Pinned
i'm quite proud of my most recent EP. it's always a struggle to get something going, but once i got started recording this felt pretty intuitive.

i don't want to pin any one meaning to it but among other things, the act of recording was meant as a genuine ritual action in praise of the god Fenrir.

*sigh* here we go again. Your phone is not listening to everything around you 24/7 for advertising purposes. *If* you have voice activation on for the assistant, the mic is listening for the activation phrase: the processing power for listening for a single specific phrase is much lower.
Do you remember when people were saying "I think my phone is listening to me, i'm getting ads for stuff I spoke about" and people said "They arent listening to you, they're just this good at predicting your interests"?

Well, it happens they were doing exactly that.

Once we just called this “fresh air”
"House burping" is gaining traction online

"The concept is simple: open your window, or windows, for a few minutes a day to let stale air out and fresh air in through all the seasons, including winter" - protects against Covid *and* indoor VOCs

A practice known as ‘house burping’ is gaining traction online. What is it?
The German trend of “lüften” involves opening the windows of your home a few times a day, in order to air it out, regardless of the temperature outside.

Longer seasons, regularly produced, with actors who aren't already famous movie stars, and for reasonable budgets. The version of TV that functioned for decades as a business is back baby, and you're hearing it more and more

Catherine O'Hara spent decades best known to comedy fanatics, Canadians and "Home Alone" fans who couldn't remember her actual name, but she spent the past decade utterly worshipped in the collective and mainstream consciousness as she deserved to be. She was fully appreciated. And that's good. #RIP

Catherine O'Hara is as much of a "good in absolutely everything, no matter how good the thing itself was" actor as Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Why does it matter what an action is called, so long as people are getting involved? Every time a "general strike" fizzles out, that weakens the power of the actual mechanism. A general strike is meant to send cold shivers down the state and bosses' spines. It is a threat. It is our nuclear option.

Boycotts are necessary! Big protests are necessary! Economic blackouts are necessary! Workers calling out sick or taking time off to support these causes is necessary! Mutual aid is BEYOND necessary! But they are not strikes.

I am so happy to see so many people directing their energy against these fucking fascists! It's good! It's also very true that strikes take WORK, can last a long time, need resources and infrastructure to succeed. I spent two YEARS covering a strike in Alabama that still hasn't been resolved.

being pedantic about what is and is not a general strike isn't helpful (I'm doing my best!) but man, if we want to take these fuckers down, building power starts in the workplace. keep protesting, keep organizing, but also TALK TO YOUR COWORKERS. JOIN A UNION. then you can start talking strikes.

insisting on calling every mass day of protest or one-day boycott a "general strike" is not the move. it's good to see people rallying around the cause, it matters, but if you want to be part of a large-scale labor action that shuts down the gears of capital, start by unionizing your workplace!!!

This is all the more interesting because wasn’t it only a few year ago that fanboys of certain stories were accusing actual critics of being paid shills? Which is never how criticism, as a job, has worked, but is absolutely how influencers work!
Was surprised how many people noticed the abundance of influencers WB invited to the WUTHERING HEIGHTS premiere. I used that to talk about influencers as celebrities, their lack of transparency on the pay for play model, and trying to be "honest" in their reviews.
