I am still processing Wicked For Good. Great chemistry between the actresses (For Good!) Hilarious cardigan. Awesome moves by Michelle Yeoh. But so many funny or emotional scenes were clunky compared to the play - Wicked Witch of The East, the Dorothy bits, the Wizard reveal, the rushed ending. Hm!

Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

I was expecting the AI Coca-Cola commercial to look like shit, but I wasn’t expecting it to SOUND like shit, too.

I’m guessing that was AI, too, because otherwise it sounds like they got the most disaffected high school choir girls to rush through a song they hate at the end of rehearsal

'Whether professors are true believers in the technology's promises, feel pressured to adapt, or are desperate for help, AI tools are becoming commonplace in course design.'

Can we all just pause and consider the consequences of outsourcing fundamental critical work to AI? #ai #highered
AI Has Joined the Faculty
More instructors are teaching with it. Is it making their courses better or dragging the profession down?

Having a great day at Dutch DiGRA today! 💜 Lots of ERC talks about different domains in games. The dark side like toxicity, gambling, platforms, monetization and the light side like music, play & education and narratives #digra #digranl

I think the bubble will burst and fuck up the global economy and then the culprits will sweep in to save us with AI as the public sector bails them out
The AI hype has created a dangerous dynamic: Either the (often dystopian) promises come true and upend our economies within the next two years, or the bubble bursts, with serious consequences for the economy. In each case, many people will be (potentially negatively) afflicted.
I like how these guys get to have it both ways

they get to inflate the bubble via broad product misrepresentation and bogus math

then dole out sage warnings about a looming problem they created as if they played no role in it

Interesting CFP on animals and AI. One of my claims in the book is that an exclusive focus on anthropocentrism hides all the ways that contemporary capitalism is itself posthuman. IMO, AI is a perfect example of this.

Reading dark academia, painful & funny. “It is lamentable that scholars who are ardent critics of the neoliberal university still rejoice when their Google Scholar Citation Score increases and would seemingly run over their next of kin if it meant getting published in a ‘top’ journal.” #highered

Vibe coding. It's increasingly used to describe how creators can work with generative AI. This is not without problems. Here's a short read about the phenomenon, which uses examples from fandom too, like the recent Song of Ice and Fire AI art controversy! nicollelamerichs.com/2025/11/12/t...
The Problem with Vibe Coding
Vibe coding, you might have heard of it. It’s a new buzzword in tech. The discourse around the word is largely positive, pushed by AI enthusiasts. Former OpenAI researcher Andrej Karpathy referred …

Generative AI is literally destroying knowledge
wikipedia's data shows that AI is siphoning traffic away from the site, which is a danger to its sustainability. ironically Wikipedia is more important than ever to users who want reliable information instead of slop, and to AI companies that need it for training data www.404media.co/wikipedia-sa...
