One of the people killed by Soldier F was a man who stepped out to help another of his victims as he lay dying in the street. He waved a white handkerchief as he did so. Soldier F shot him in the head. His name was Barney McGuigan and today his family had to listen to a judge acquit his killer.

Lisa Steinbach, whose OB-GYN prescribed high-dose testosterone for fatigue and overall wellness after she had a hysterectomy, noticed no improvement in her energy or in her sex life, though that had never been an issue for her. But about a year into the treatment, she started sounding like someone who had a persistent cold. Her voice got worse over time. “It’s very raspy,” she said, “and people are always asking me, ‘Oh, are you sick?’ Or they think it’s a man’s voice.” Steinbach decided to stop taking testosterone, but the raspiness did not go away; it remains a constant source of distress for her.

re: describing myself I like that it allows me to describe the binary trans aspect of me (sex) and the non-binary part (gender) more clearly, I guess?

I use it interchangeably with transgender to describe myself

with how often cis people do the 'transing gender not sex' thing I like that it emphasises the change in sex

however if I were referring to trans people broadly I'd stick with transgender to avoid getting into transmed territory
