The RAND Corp just released findings that the 2025 LA homeless count may have been off by up to 7900 people. The undercount coincides with “rough sleepers” - people without a vehicle or tent. The neighborhoods most affected are Venice, Hollywood and Skid Row.

There’s more of us than there are of them. They can’t control us. They can’t stop us from voicing our dissent. Thugs and thuggery is not a winning future, even if they think so. See you at No Kings.

what’s most damning, IMO, about the “swastika flag in the background of a Zoom call” thing is that it’s clearly been up for a while, like, he didn’t put that up this AM, and nobody has said anything to him about it (nor did he think to take it down) because it’s just expected behavior among the GOP

Do hang around for the outro, in around 10 minutes.

Which is the easier route? Or the more satisfying?

#HorrorWritersChat Q3.

Who do you scare? As a writer, it's our chance to bite back, perhaps.
Q3
Do you write horror that scares the poor, the wealthy or everyone equally?

Today we delivered to senior management in NY a petition signed by 1,300 ProPublica readers, donors and supporters, as well as fellow journalists at peer newsrooms and former ProPublicans. It’s clear that we have wide support for a fair contract NOW.
ProPublica Guild Secretary Jeff Ernsthausen presents CEO Robin Sparkman with our petition signatures. ProPublica Guild members gather in CEO Robin Sparkman’s office delivering petition signatures. Young Republicans in the ‘90s were also racist, Hitler-loving creeps who wanted to do real harm to people who weren’t like them.

Today on zero surprise www.politico.com/news/2025/10...

It’s not new, it’s not a response to Trump, it’s not a turn to evil - The same garbage was happening at my university in 1991 when a group of Young Republicans threatened to rape me so I would stop embarrassing the school with my queerness

It was the MWRG (Mormon Women for Ethical Government) who pushed the Utah Supreme Court to enforce the anti gerrymandering reforms the legislature had been ignoring (that the people voted for), so I would not count this option out TBH

If the Mormons start memeing in favor of the frogs, I think it's a sign Trump is losing the FBI, which I welcome with open arms. Bring on the latter day memes.

NEW:

A dramatic voiceover video the White House and Donald Trump shared last week claiming to show "chaos" in Chicago is littered with outdated footage from Florida, Texas, South Carolina, Nebraska, California and Arizona, an AFP investigation found.

In my current WIP, my main character Carrie lives in a trailer park, and that plays heavily into the story. She's acutely aware of her otherness and tries to blend in. When her best friend Christine, also from the trailer park, goes missing, the police don't take it seriously.

Oh sweet just soon enough to squeeze in another answer before my shift

It shapes it somewhat. Lots of horror derived from how society treats us neurodivergent by throwing us out, plus one of my main horror characters is literally named Broke for a few reasons

Marquette Park this morning, ~45 min ago at 70th and Washtenaw per anon FB post. Through a screen, someone films Border Patrol agents taking a man into a red minivan and driving away. Another angle of this shared to social media shows it happened in front of a daycare.

Tom Coombe here, writer of short horror stories. Rich people call themselves "comfortable." I'm what you might call "uncomfortable." I make enough money to pay my bills, but not enough to retire or save or do anything other than occasionally go out to eat.

Oh right then here we go, if it glitches I'll wait till it's back up then fire the next.
Can't say fairer than that. Hi #HorrorWritersChat, let's talk riches. Or poverty. Moral or cash, I don't mind which.
Horror is one of the more egalitarian genres I think. More room for poor...

No links please.
Question One
Assemble, horror bods!
Tell me what kind of horror you write, and how poor are you - financially or morally? You choose....

No, I draw the line at quote-posting ME but making it so I can't reply?? Blocked.
