What an absolutely stunning image. What evolutionary purpose does the human sense of beauty serve that when we see an image like this, of beauty on the largest scales, we (Some of us, anyway) get goosebumps?

Plausible but unlikely while he's still pres. and after that? Well, I wouldn't put money that Trump will even be alive after Jan. 2029 at the rate he's going.

As I understand it, these unilateral demolitions and constructions are illegal, or at least arguably so. Question: if Congress, newly supplied with 51% of a backbone, were to pass a resolution banning them, would it require a signature to take effect and be vetoabe? Or would it be purely symbolic?

To say this is grossly unprofessional doesn't come close to an accurate description of just how depraved this is in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Disgusting and so, so disheartening.
Fucking surreal that people dressed like this and carrying assault rifles are permitted to kidnap people off our streets

Are you sure he's a man? I have suspected he may be some kind of demon or zombie, because he obviously lacks the emotional and empathic nature common to most of humanity.
In the old days, I spent quite a lot of time, razzing on the executive orders drafted by President Trump. They were so poorly drafted I speculated they were written by AI. I was wrong! They were drafted by Stephen Miller, a man who did not go to law school, apple.news/AL2Z5BvQwRq2....

Talk about stupid euphemisms. Corruption is not "enriching" family members. It's illegal diversion of influence money to people more than happy to trade influence with those entrusted with power in our democratic system for dirty money. It's absolutely rotten, and totally illegal. Yet, here we are.
But were they missteps? Really?

Some of these goons need to face prosecution for assaulting citizens, by spraying with irritants, who are doing nothing more than recording what they are seeing, or peacefully protesting what is happening in front of them. Local police need to start arresting them for assault.
DHS should be embarrassed that their ICE agent hires are so soft they can’t handle being videotaped, even while masked, so they resort to pepper spraying women at close range.

And we should be proud of the Santa Barbara women who stood their ground anyway.

Seems about right. We are a party without leadership.
Okay I think I've mapped out ICE politics as of Monday night

Yeah, and that's why you told the Secret Service to take away the magnetometers on Jan. 6, because of course YOUR supporters weren't bringing guns to a protest. (Oh, yeah, they were. And there was vioence, unlike the protesters in Minnesota. The only violence in MN was from the FEDS). Ugh, ugh.
As far as I know, we still think Alex was going for donuts and the jagoffs showed up. He just kept a firearm on him regularly which gun right types think is critical at all times.
Trump on Minneapolis shooting:

“I don’t like any shooting. I don’t like it. But I don’t like it when somebody goes into a protest and he’s got a very powerful, fully loaded gun with two magazines loaded up with bullets also. That doesn’t play good either” www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

You have got to be fuckimg kidding me. They are out front and admitting that it's extortion: help us cheat and destroy democracy and we won't send the gestapo after your people. Minnesota needs to SUE the Trump administration immediately. If the courts won't stop this, we're doomed.
Pam Bondi just sent a letter to Minnesota officials saying ICE will leave if the state turns over its voter database to Trump.

Guess what? This has never been about safety or immigration. It’s a pretext for Trump to take over elections in swing states.

ICE's claim to be exempt from the 4th Amendment amounts to a declaration of war by the regime on the Constitution of the United States. We cannot continue to enable them to do ANYTHING. Boycott, resistance, defunding, impeachment, removal.

If this isn't enough to convince at least seven of the Supreme Court (forget about bribe recipients Thomas and Alito) that Trump's tarriffs are a horrendous abuse of power never even contemplated by Congress in its worst fever dreams, I don't know what would be.
If your peace plan includes Vladimir Putin and excludes actual allies, it’s not peace. It’s submission.

In the goddamn WINTER. This is beyond depraved. It is EVIL.
I know the story is going around. This is Morristown, New Jersey. Half an hour from Newark Airport. Its on the hinterlands of New York City. It's a fight I know ICE isn't ready for.

This is truly horrifying. More and more it's clear that the MAGA cult, which controls the entire Republican party in all the states, is a DEATH CULT. They care nothing for the suffering of others, especially if they are "the other," like LGBTQ folk. So "let 'em die." Sick. Sick. And EVIL.

All life makes use of the dead remains of forerunner life. But we're concentrating the chemical transformation of millions of years of accumulation in a a short time. If it were being done as part of a program to pave the way for a sustainable energy system, it would be one thing. But it isn't.
Maybe we shouldn't have based our entire civilization around a thick black goo formed from countless dead lifeforms over millions of years, essentially the concentrated essence of death

Up until quite recently, it seemed to me that Trump's economic disaster was the biggest issue in the fight to defeat them, but now I think the thug paramilitary attack on ordinary Americans may be of equal importance. People REALLY don't like this.
Bill Kristol: "The agents presumably had a good laugh about this. Perhaps they relished their meal even more because the staff was frightened. Humiliation of victims, a kind of relish in their fear and misery, a kind of sadism has become a dominant part of the culture of ICE."

The fact that an official in an Amercian administration makes this argument in defense of aggressive war, which the US helped to make a violation of International Law, speaks volumes of how depraved our government has become. Miller is a criminal and should be tried in a Nuremberglike tribunal.
Stephen Miller articulated the Lebensraum theory of territorial acquisition—if we're strong enough, we can steal whatever we like—and makes clear that Russia should have Ukraine and China should have Taiwan, too.

If they come to your door, even if you have no reason to need to resist them, don't open the door. Tell them through the door that unless they have a judicial warrant you will not admit or talk to them and demand that they get off your property immediately. Then say nothing further.
Yesterday, these incompetent fucks were just going door-to-door in a neighborhood near my house at 8:30 in the morning. School buses were driving through trying to pick up kids, people were out walking their dogs, and people were taking out their trash cans.

This is not a warrant. I would tell them to pound sand, in a letter from an attorney if that could be conveniently arranged. I don't believe there is any statutory basis for this, and even if there was, it would probably be a 4th amendment violation and unconstitutional.
DHS employees entered our store this afternoon and served us a Notice of Inspection, demanding copies of I9 forms for each employee.
