Your challenge for the day is to invent a ReformUK policy. On Shrove Tuesday next year we get to see if they’ve adopted it.

Remember, it should appeal to insane pensioners and absolutely nobody else. QT with yours!

Disability Confident is a pointless scheme when there are very subjective criteria, pass it on.

For reasons too complicated to explain I've got electronic copies of the last MRI and CT I had. There's an app for viewing them and it creates a 3D visualisation of all the slices from the scan. It's been really interesting seeing the curve in my spine that way

Having to get a panel of blood tests done and I can't find anywhere that does all of them. One of them seems really hard to get done privately. Current waiting list for switching to local diabetes team is 21 weeks! All should have been done when I was an inpatient last year

There's one blood test I need and I can't seem to find anywhere in London that does it apart from being requested by an NHS endocrinologist. Wait for referral is currently 21 weeks, despite being under another endocrinologist where I used to live. Have to start the referral from scratch!

Why are figure skaters/ice dancers the only athletes at the winter Olympics who don't wear team outfits or have numbers?

If you see this, quote with a robot that isn’t from “Star Wars”, “Star Trek”, “Dr. Who”, or “Transformers.”

Been told I need bloodtests that I should have had this time last year when an inpatient. Apparently results take 10-12 weeks to get back to the GP! Looked at the lab page and they have a 2 week turn round! Where are the other 8-10 weeks coming from? It's an NHS lab too. Other NHS labs even faster.

Spoke to the diabetes nurse this morning and she was astounded that I'd not had any of the diabetes antibody tests when I was suddenly diagnosed with diabetes last year. I was astounded when I found out the results take 10-12 weeks!

Does anyone know where I can get a new (or low mileage) pancreas? Mine's not playing nicely at the moment

Another night ruined by my CGM erroneously reporting low blood sugar. Readings are 3-4 lower than finger prick measures. This is the third sensor in a row that's doing that.

Having a falling out with my disability this week. Been dealing with it all my life and just want a break

In February I spent 14 hours in Resus with diabetic ketoacidosis. Turns out my pancreas had given up. Nearly died then managed to get it under control with insulin injections. Really proud I'm now in range 95% of the time

Reading & writing has kept me alive this year.

Somehow, it’s been my most productive year as an author.

Here’s a guide to what I’ve published in 2025, in case you’ve lost track.

What's always puzzled me about Raiders of the Lost Ark is how the Germans are operating overtly in Egypt in 1936. The treaty limiting British troops in Egypt to 10,000 maximum wasn't ratified until 22nd December. There were over 2,400 infantry in Cairo alone

One of the 'fun' disability things they don't tell you is sometimes you'll have to choose between two methods of dealing with a disability issue but they both will cause you some kind of damage (that's different to your disability)

EXPLAIN YOUR USERNAME

It’s a nickname my cousin gave me after my first amputation. She changed it to "Metric" after the second one as I can't measure using feet any more
