Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

If we’re subskeeting me…lol. I am not new to this I’m true to this
My hatred for this team has been well documented on the other app, but the racism in the chop, the name, the branding, the racism apologists, the evil Christian abuse cover up MAGA ownership…I don’t feel bad being obnoxious about it 😇

Theoretically, everyone deserves the right to do what they want to their own bodies.

But in practice, these laws lead to further devaluation of disabled lives. They invariably lead to people choosing MAID because they can't afford healthcare, cajoled into this cheaper choice by an uncaring system.

one of my longstanding takes is that car manufacturers should be forced to install mandatory speed limiters in every new vehicle and people react to that like I'm advocating to strip them of their right to free speech

Kansas City Santa please give me a car free Plaza and a car free or car limited Main St. that my streetcar may run smoothly and on time, amen
It’s the same story in every major city. Shops and restaurants cry foul when pedestrian areas are created or traffic is limited in other ways, and then it turns out it’s good for business having people strolling by unencumbered

Meanwhile, the funding generated from congestion pricing is already starting to pay for modernized signals, so trains run on time, and new subway elevators, so everyone can use them.

Foot traffic in the congestion pricing zone is up much more than elsewhere in the city. Some businesses worried it would reduce customers – but it seems like it’s done the opposite.

A year ago, our lawsuits helped make sure congestion pricing would go into effect on January 1, 2025. Now, the results are clear:

Congestion pricing has resulted in a marked drop in air pollution – not just in Lower Manhattan, but throughout the metro region.
Particulate pollution in the air down a whopping 22% in NYC’s congestion pricing zone.

Not only are the streets less congested, but so are our lungs.

I don’t understand why people get so annoyed at me for bringing it up but I’ll keep saying it because I love you: GET AN AIR PURIFIER(S). For your desk if you’re in an office, for your classroom, for your house…hell, buy one for daycare if you can swing it, idk. I know you guys don’t like being sick
We're half a decade into studies finding that improving airflow in classrooms will reduce disease transmission enormously, and that bleaching surfaces etc. does very little. And yet nothing changes. Waves of flu and colds wash over schools, and the schools pretend it's an act of God.
