I feel like The Church just recently realized all the horrible shit its done and has gone on a massive bender to make amends or something
In the US, Catholic sisters return Wisconsin land to Ojibwe tribe in a historic first. The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration have transferred a lakefront property to the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa for the same $30,000 they paid in 1966.

For the first time, Catholic sisters return land to a Tribal nation
"This return represents more than the restoration of land — it is the restoration of balance, dignity, and our sacred connection to the places our ancestors once walked."

Made a pilgrimage to the @debsmuseum.bsky.social in Terra Haute yesterday and boy was it worth the drive. The curator abs guide, Allison was a font of knowledge. We got the 90 min tour age easily could have listened to her talk about Gene and his times for twice that. A true hearth of comradeship.

last month, 68 groups with the illinois network for pretrial justice called on cook county commissioners to freeze spending on law enforcement to preserve vital programs that have been slashed by the trump admin.

instead, the county board voted to give the sheriff and the state's attorney a raise.
sixty-eight chicago community, faith, + social service organizations are calling on cook county commissioners to “protect and increase social service spending” amid drastic cuts nationally from the trump admin.

they suggest freezing all law enforcement spending, which has “unjustifiably increased.”

As someone who's family came from Jersey City, I feel honor-bound to pitch in. All I ask in return is a Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a hard roll and a pack of butterscotch crumpets

Across 299 pages with highly entertaining footnotes and appendices, Rob Miller recalls his three-decade journey through music, how he helped grow a prominent record label and, ultimately, how it came crashing down.

Variety's best comedies list had Fargo at, I think 8, which is interesting to me bc I don't think it's even a top 4 funniest Cohens. I'd probably go:
1. Lebowski
1a. Serious Man
3. Raising Arizona
4. Burn After
then maybe Fargo at 5? Who you got?

I'm a huge Beatles nerd and this is ridiculous even to me. Especially if it's just making everything look HD. It's fine for 1995 things to look like they're from 1995.
The restoration of “Beatles Anthology,” a documentary series that first aired in the U.S. in 1995, will start streaming on Wednesday on Disney+. Here's what else to watch on TV this week.
‘The Beatles Anthology,’ Plus 9 Things to Watch on TV This Week
The remastered documentary series will be released, and we watch some reader recommendations, including “The Gone” and “Dark.”

Chicago police officers can turn off their body-worn cameras while being questioned by their supervisor immediately after they shoot a member of the public, the federal judge overseeing efforts to reform the Chicago Police Department ruled Friday.

The year is 2037. The Polish right are using the stereotype of the "migrant British plumber" as a rhetorical device to split a rival coalition.
Over at the Daily Telegraph, they're scratching their heads as to why the former mining and steel producinv city of Gliwice in Poland is now 45% more prosperous than Darlington... and why it has new shiny infrastructure... without mentioning EU funds for urban and regional development...

A REAL ball- knower would be locking down the Zoomer boat by putting Phantom Menace first or saying that their favorite SW was the Clone Wars cartoon series.
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

if i've learned one thing from doing union stuff while also doing other forms of organizing, it's that you're better off with people you disagree with who are nevertheless trying to do the same thing as you than with people you agree with who aren't trying to do anything
