It is completely believable (and likely) this was someone fucking up.
Now that the El Paso no fly order has lifted, based on 1) reports that it related to operations at Biggs air base, and 2) the no fly zone topping out at 18K feet, I'd hypothesize somebody lost a MANPAD (a shoulder fired surface to air missile) and it was lifted when they found it. But who knows?
The FAA has shut down air traffic in El Paso and parts of southwestern New Mexico FOR 10 DAYS and threatened to "use deadly force" against aircraft that violate the airspace. WTAF? elpasomatters.org/2026/02/11/u...
