The Guest Children by @patrickt.bsky.social is a ghost story that's full of mystery. Set in a crumbling and isolated northern lodge, the book explores where ghosts come from and how we allow ourselves to be trapped by their hauntings. It's also a damn spooky page turner. Highly recommended!

Amanda, I've got the whole Cuddle Buddyverse planned out.

I used this service, and my cuddle buddy came back different. He's watching me now, trying to loosen the stitching on his mouth when I'm not looking. I'm worried what happens when he gets it open. But the number on the sign has vanished. I don't know where to turn.
A sign with an image of a damaged stuffy, reading 'Do you have a cuddle buddy in need of repair? I can help! Contact me' But the contact info is blank.

That was an even sketchier read than expected.

Lots of talk about Robert Redford films that have been lost in his large filmography. For my money this is one of the best, Peter Yates’s THE HOT ROCK (1972). A caper or heist film? It doesn’t really matter. The point is it’s great & has one of coolest robbery crews ever assembled on celluloid

One of these rich dudes invested in a food company with all proceeds going to kids in need. The other started Sundance Institute, boosting the lives of countless artists. Hey modern rich dudes, don't be a typical greedy AI crypto-prick, be like these two.

We're drowning in used books and could use your help making space on our shelves!

This Saturday and Sunday (Sept 13th & 14th), come by for 15% off all used books!
Sideways look at a bookshelf with used hardcovers on it. Near the front are books by David B. Coe and Steven Erikson. Book spines further back are mostly out of focus are not easily read.

The Furious was a wild ride, one of the most imaginative action movies I’ve seen in years. Very fun and animated crowd for an industry screening too.

"A novel that speaks to the personal nature of our ghosts and grief, Tarr highlights the complexity of the human experience of loss while telling a ripping good story."

Thanks to the British Columbia Review and Trish Bowering for such a thoughtful review of The Guest Children.

Just out of @realgdt.bsky.social’s Frankenstein. One of his very best, with every frame impeccably composed and every craftsperson at the top of their game.
