I concur - as another game industry oldie, this tome was a real eye-opener. You think you've heard it all after forty plus years in this industry, but, my word, what a story. Lovingly researched, beautifully written. Basically, what Graeme said!

Yeah the one going off into the distance; it’s an all time classic. Ocean bought the rights to it when they went pop and started to release all the arcade conversions on it. All Roger Dean’s stuff was exquisite.

I have the ultimate retro logo challenge for you - the original Imagine logo from back in the Spectrum days! That's a humdinger!

Quite proud of this. This is the original Taito flyer art for Renegade (as used for the loading screen on the Speccy version). I've had a few partial scans and B/W photocopies over the years, but finally found a dog-eared over exposed full image. Several days of re-touching and I think we're there!

Think how much those take aways cost these days! Eye watering!

I’m not really sure if I’m honest - Allan lived in Levenshulme and we used to always stop off at the pit before stuffing our faces at his house - so it must’ve been close by. I’m not great at Manchester geography though, so I could be way out, and just assuming it was in Levy.

He used to always take me to the Canadian Charcoal Pit in Levvy - man we put some cheap ass burgers away over the years 🤪

Al was the first person I met at Ocean - just a proper down to earth lovely geezer. Oh the shenanigans we got up to 🤪 And as hard as nails. Proper miss him.

I rarely go on Facebook these days, but I just popped on - it really was quite shocking how many of my "friends" on there have turned into rabid Reform-ites. Nope. Can't be bothered. Not having it. Buh-bye...

It's a programmer thing I'm sure - I was obsessed with doing starfields on the C64 - myself and Allan Shortt used to always one up each other trying to outdo crazy comet's starfield :o)
