this just has me thinking about how so much of this government and the movement around it is purely a matter of aesthetics. is there a strategic reason for produce a new warship? maybe. but my hunch is that this is happening because the president thinks it will look cool.
President Trump will announce on Monday a new type of large warship he is calling “battleships,” marking a step toward achieving the president’s vision for a new “Golden Fleet.”
Trump To Announce Navy Will Buy New ‘Battleship’
The new warship will be the latest in what the White House envisions as a “Golden Fleet.”

I have no original fiction slated for '26. I am TRYING to work on a novel hypothetically for '27, but that's going about as well as anything else in this dumpster fire of a year.

I know it IS a novel, which is more than I had for all of 2024. I don't talk about WIPs, but it will be something new.
They are both great!! Any hints as to what you might be releasing/working on for next year and beyond?

legitimately love this guy.
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

The actor Michael Sheen used all his money to start a fake debt collecting business, buy 900 people in Wales's debt, and excused it. If Musk bought ALL $194 billion in medical debt in the U.S. and excused it in the same way, he'd still be the world's riches man by hundreds of billions of dollars.

In the summer of 1950 most US newspapers ran an AP story about how race had become the main issue in the upcoming Georgia governor's race. Segregationist Herman Tallmadge, governor from '47 to '55 and then a Senator until 1981 made a name for himself by refusing to "apologize for being a white man."
