The White House says the Kennedy Center board vote was “unanimous”…

BULLSHIT.

@repbeatty.bsky.social, a Congressional member of the board, was on the call. They muted her and didn't let her voice opposition.

This is beyond absurd, totally illegal, and a disgrace to the memory and legacy of JFK.

Facebook made an algorithm that gave Boomers whatever they wanted, and they destroyed democracy, and then all those FB product managers went over to OpenAI and made ChatGPT, and now they've made a chatbot that tells Boomers whatever they want to hear, and... well, this should go great.
If we are banning cell phones for kids we need to be talking about banning chatbots for boomers

One of the arguments against “excessive” governmental regulation we all get told is that in the absence of regulation, companies will continue to act in the best interests of their customers lest they face the wrath of the market.

In case you needed direct evidence to the contrary, here you go.
This is horrifying.

At Walmart, recalled products were found in stores across 21 states.
In a letter to Target, the FDA said officials in Arkansas found the company offering a $2 discount on the recalled formula from November 16 to November 22. Target had the formula in stores across 20 states.
US FDA sends warning letters to Walmart, Target for selling recalled baby formula
The FDA said four major retailers continued to sell baby formula linked to a nationwide outbreak of bacterial illness in infants even after the products were recalled.

The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.

The Democrats: proving once again an unending willingness to negotiate with terrorists.

I’m deadly serious, next time I get hit up for money by these clowns I’m gonna point to tonight and ask “what, exactly, are you asking me to pay for? I can get capitulation for free.”

I think Dick Cheney’s death today highlighted this divide.

The Democrats who still say shit like “reach across the aisle” and praise evil people are playing to a political audience that no longer exists.

Mamdani wasn’t cruel to Cuomo in a Trumpism style, but he didn’t concede anything either.
I love that Zohran did not praise Cuomo in his speech. You absolutely do not have to say nice things about bad people. We should normalize that in “polite” politics: Praising bad people is not actually “civility.”

Here's another bit of conventional wisdom Zohran completely blew away: His speech was at well above a 10th-grade level. It was complex, erudite, punctuated by deep and fluent references. You don't have to condescend to voters with baby talk! Part of re-establishing norms is speaking like an adult.

A lot of Very Serious People will be pretending to be confused about What This All Means as a way to avoid the simple inconvenient reality: Voters like it when candidates are kind sincere non-weirdos who are passionate about big popular ideas that will actually help real people.

Boyle Heights is an immigrant neighborhood. This Dodgers victory means a lot to communities that are struggling and being oppressed right now. Hernandez speaking out meant a lot. Now we have to hold the team accountable, and demand no trip to the White House.

Block fascists. There's no reasoning or arguing with them, you might as well debate with spoiled leftovers. Don't let them bait you. Block fast, block often, block fascists. Let their accounts mummify.
