Miracle. The scar of the Bontive Valley. The final #Palisade post card is a collaboration between myself and @badbucket.bsky.social. We traded sketches back and forth to land on the comp. I painted the environment, Conner did the ships, the finishing touches, the typography etc. #friendsatthetable

I'm listening to the Culture books as I work, and as much as I still enjoy them I think about 90% of Musk's ideas about the future comes from them.

Or maybe from the Wikipedia article about them.

Congress wrote into the law that someone who overstays a visa while applying for asylum is not considered to be accruing “unlawful presence,” but it didn’t explicitly say those people couldn’t be arrested and detained — because it was presumed that they wouldn’t be. Well, Trump is doing it.
We came to LA as refugees from the USSR in 1991. Life wasn’t easy, but we persevered and, I dare say, came to contribute something of worth to this nation.

Had I experienced the following when I was a boy, I don’t know what would have become of me.

Looks like I got taken in by that article, sorry about that. I guess it's possible that Google isn't being honest about this, but nothing in the setting says anything about Gemini/AI and I think the reason it turns off tabs and filtering is because those are the only features it controls
The malwarebytes Google opting-your-emails-into-ai-training thing is not true. The post is based on one bad tweet.

I know anti-tech lamenting is a Bluesky core principle, but please use the same judgement you would for any other clickbait.

since the "google is now training gemini on your email contents" thing keeps bumping around here: it's _not happening_. I say this not to defend google but because I know a lot of people that have broken their filtering and made their lives much more annoying from sheer misinformation.

If you’re at PAX Unplugged, be sure to grab a postcard from the Possible Worlds booth!

Just so it's clear. It's not allowing AI because it's trying to create a clean dataset for training AI. It's not because any of the involved parties actually care about human created art.

Demons can lie to you. You have to rebuke them categorically, rather than fold when they say the right words.
Vine is being rebooted under the name diVine, with funding from Twitter’s former CEO Jack Dorsey.

The app plans to feature more than 10,000 previously archived Vines and does not allow AI-generated content.

regarding all the Google AI stuff: isn't it kind of wild how bad the Gmail settings page is? It's even laid out with tables! the last time this thing saw a design refresh must have been at least a decade ago, if not longer

This isn't the same as those smart tabs, but it does seem to work! I do wonder how these tags are being applied to emails though, and if they'll keep getting applied once the AI stuff is off.

Also, here's google's reference on how to refine search queries: support.google.com/mail/answer/...
