A lot of people could stand to learn that there’s no inherent virtue in suffering.
Fully agree! Consciously framing oneself as The Bad Guy in another person’s framing is still adopting their framing uncritically, rather than defining oneself positively based on what one actually is, not what one isn’t

if it requires other people be uncomfortable or antagonized for you to feel happy in your existence, something's broken. our existence as trans people regardless of what we present as or how we behave already gets used as an excuse for the hateful and ignorant to be antagonistic towards us

Agree. I don’t see any way that framing a desire to transition as a “disorder“ doesn’t lead to anything extremely bad (as it has in history and the present)

to put it another way: I'm a woman because I made myself one. I'm a feminist because I have half a brain.

And to be even more honest, I think "wanting to dismantle the gender hierarchy" would be a pretty strange reason to transition. On a purely tactical level that's not an effective way to do that. I transitioned to be happier, and AFAIK that's why most people do it! You don't need a better reason!

Like I don't think we have some kind of unique responsibility to be the shock troops against Gender. To be honest I think if that were true then it would be a political imperative for everyone to transition (and hey, if anyone wants to argue that: I'd respect the logical consistency at least)
January 18, 2026 at 5:16 PM
if transition is a form of politics then it can be critiqued as a form of politics, and that's a frankly inane way to view the pursuit of one's own happiness. it isn't specifically trans people's job to dismantle gendered hierarchies. that's kinda everyone's job actually!

Assuming this post is a riff but I have some thoughts so fuck it: I think a lot of people attribute an intrinsic radicalism to transness/transition and that attribution is deeply silly if not outright harmful. (1/?)
"hondosing myself is praxis. i am deconstructing gender expectations by giving myself treatment resistant depression. the misery means my politics are good. i have ascended beyond your mundane conceptions of biological reality and that's why i cry every time i walk past a clothing store window."

Fundamentally the lesson American voters took from Trump I and Stop the Steal is that Worse Things Aren't Possible imo
The North Atlantic Treaty was, to be fair, on the ballot in 2016, ‘20, and ‘24 and a decadent voting public made some horrible choices.
President Donald Trump’s fixation on Greenland offers an ice-cold reminder to leaders in Europe and abroad: No deal is ever final.

Heavy game rec because it's on sale for like $1 today: Song of Farca. Really cute little game that's got lesbians and surprisingly good politics. One of those "spy on people from your computer" games but you're an immigrant felon on house arrest during a time of political turmoil. Also you're gay.

I hate when someone starts an argument with you and then hits you with the "sorry, conflict is very overwhelming for me" -- if that's the case why did you start one then???

Saw an ad for some student tool that auto-records your classes and AI generates notes for you. Demonic. Yet another reason I never wanna work in academia. The idea of half my day being recorded in a bunch of people’s devices i have no control over is terrifying to me

They should hire me for the new york times. I could totally go to random small towns and listen to people’s shitty opinions while eating terrible food in podunk diners in towns that globalization has correctly chosen to let rot
