One thing I might do some time is post a big thread of trans people in the 1970s arguing about the exact same shit we argue about now. Would people want that?

"Agatha Christie’s brilliantly constructed plots in their infinite variety are also a superb achievement. If some novels follow the classic formula of the 'Golden Age' of detective fiction, others bust that circle wide open."

I think there is a very real way that scrolling/swiping apps, social media, gamification, and gambling everywhere has completely attention-hacked US society into a new form of social relations based entirely around a kind of incidental behaviorist totalitarianism.
That the swiping-style of app is being used partially or primarily as an ego-game or a compulsive time-waster is an old observation. That the structural setup of the apps encourages people to try and hack encounters, likewise. But also I think people bear some responsibility *not to do that*

just a little PSA: dark sunglasses/any sunglasses will not block facial recognition software because they rely on infrared cameras that can see right through them. You need sunglasses that *specifically* block infrared too.

Europe could pretty seriously wreck our economy (during an election year no less) if they really wanted to. Sort of odd to me that they seem unwilling to even threaten that, let alone do it.

if it requires other people be uncomfortable or antagonized for you to feel happy in your existence, something's broken. our existence as trans people regardless of what we present as or how we behave already gets used as an excuse for the hateful and ignorant to be antagonistic towards us

Assuming this post is a riff but I have some thoughts so fuck it: I think a lot of people attribute an intrinsic radicalism to transness/transition and that attribution is deeply silly if not outright harmful. (1/?)
"hondosing myself is praxis. i am deconstructing gender expectations by giving myself treatment resistant depression. the misery means my politics are good. i have ascended beyond your mundane conceptions of biological reality and that's why i cry every time i walk past a clothing store window."

Heavy game rec because it's on sale for like $1 today: Song of Farca. Really cute little game that's got lesbians and surprisingly good politics. One of those "spy on people from your computer" games but you're an immigrant felon on house arrest during a time of political turmoil. Also you're gay.

I hate when someone starts an argument with you and then hits you with the "sorry, conflict is very overwhelming for me" -- if that's the case why did you start one then???

Saw an ad for some student tool that auto-records your classes and AI generates notes for you. Demonic. Yet another reason I never wanna work in academia. The idea of half my day being recorded in a bunch of people’s devices i have no control over is terrifying to me

hammam is very selfless, he asks nothing for himself, only that we stand with and support his brother aboud. hammam spends all day amongst the wounded and the dead, a true hero amidst the ongoing genocide perpetrated by israel. please, if you can, consider helping this family survive.
