If they punished white men after shootings or DUI or DV or racist assaults…

But no, it’s collective punishment for immigrants and other minorities.

There will be so, so much damage to undo once we get these folks out.

DHS doesn't administer the Diversity Visa program. She might as well say she's directing USCIS to pause patent examinations.
The admin is wasting no crisis... Sec. Kristi Noem said she is suspending the diversity visa lottery program (DV-1) after the Brown University suspect entered the U.S. through it in 2017.

Butlerian jihad was number 1 on my list of things I keep seeing here, didn't know what it was, but wasn't quite motivated enough to find out about.
(I also assumed it was something to do with Judith Butler)
I was today years old when I discovered “Butlerian Jihad” has nothing to do with Judith Butler

The transition from yelling fake news to fake documents is seamless of course; a white supremacist regime is attempting to make us all inauthentic unless they say otherwise.

ICE detain pregnant woman who gives birth in custody—take her baby away after just 2½ days.

Kept separated from her baby for 35 days now—even after all charges against her were dropped.

She is willing to do anything to be reunited with her baby—even if that means self deporting back to Mexico.

FOUR new deaths in ICE detention. That puts the total this year at 30 people dead; the highest in ICE's history and worse than even during the COVID years.

It's clear that the system is breaking down. Many of these are preventable deaths.
In the 90 minutes since I posted this, I've gotten two more death notifications.

ICE has a responsibility to take care of these people, something they are clearly disregarding. This is beyond horrifying. We must ensure dignity and humanity for detained people in this country.
Within 15 minutes today, I got two back-to-back notifications of deaths at ICE facilities.

28 people have died in ICE custody since Trump took office. These facilities are overcrowded & are putting their own profits over health and safety. We need oversight & accountability NOW.

Parents of trans kids in the US: It’s not available to most of you, unfortunately, but if you have a roadmap open to your family to a better country, it’s probably time to pack up and go. Even if this bill doesn’t pass the Senate, the moral panic is just too hot and relentless in the US, sadly.
Just now, a national trans healthcare felony ban for youth has passed the US House, with 10 year prison terms.

3 Dems crossed party lines to vote to jail providers.

4 GOP crossed party lines to vote against.

It is not expected to pass the Senate, where Dems hold filibuster power.

Story to come.

The Trump admin says it aims to file 100-200 denaturalization cases per month, a huge increase. But these cases are hard to file and win, and require a lot of DOJ resources, and the DOJ is incredibly stretched thin already. So we’ll see; I have serious doubts about their ability to do this.
What this will mean, in practice, that if you are deemed an enemy of the administration, they will pore through your citizenship application paperwork looking for some reason to retroactively disqualify you.

Amen. I'll never understand the hate some people feel toward the absolute best thing about our country. It is supposed to be an ever-evolving hodgepodge of cultures and experiences all wrapped up under a shared vision of freedom and equality. And mfs out there mad about that!
the promise of america is that you can come to america, become an america, and also keep the stuff you love about your identity. america will welcome you in not just physically but culturally: your food, your music, your holidays, your friends and family too

you will change america--for the better
