In horror at the detention of a child, this moment from our reporting on Minneapolis today stands out —

An ICE agent saw a bald eagle while driving with a detained US citizen. The agent said to the driver, “there’s a bald eagle, do you know what that means?” The driver said: “God is on our side.”

It seems like America’s Golden Age should involve fewer 5 year olds being abducted and used as bait by low-rent mall cops the government turned into purposefully violent federal agents. 🤷‍♂️

Democrats are about to help give ICE more money, as insane as that sounds.

Here's what they could be doing instead.

Trump isn’t a candidate
The FCC is warning that daytime talk shows and late-night programs must give equal time to opposing political candidates, taking aim at a genre of TV that has long drawn President Trump's ire.

How it started: 8th circuit removed restrictions on ICE using pepper spray etc. against peaceful protestors

How it’s going: 3 goons hold a man down, another pepper sprays him in the face— as Bovino uses green chemical gas for no reason with kids around

We've had abuses by federal officers before, and institutional endemic abuse by small local police forces. But the combination of ICE's huge expanse and reach on the one hand and apparently institutionalized abuse and disregard for the Constitution is to my memory without precedent.

Autopsy report classifies ICE detainee’s death as a homicide
The report deeming an ICE detainee’s death in Texas a homicide comes the same day that a federal judge temporarily barred the deportation of two witnesses.

Thinking of my nieces, my little cousins, my godchildren, my friends' kids, and how the natural thing for an adult to want to do is protect a child. It takes a lot of dedication to losing that instinct and working against basic humanity to do something like this. This is depravity.
This guy went to work today, put a mask on, kidnapped a 5 year old child, and then used him as bait so both he and his father could be sent behind bars

You’re arresting terrified children and using them as bait. Arresting kids getting treatment at doctors’ offices. Blinding protesters. Illegally raiding homes. Making people terrified to leave their homes.

You want to pee in peace?

Quit your fucking job.
Border Patrol agents are very sad that everyone in Minnesota hates them.

“At each gas station where the agents stopped to use the restroom, groups of agitators appeared, yelled at them, stalked them, and even tried to prevent law enforcement vehicles from leaving…”

Step two, restricting the rights of people already in the country, is already in motion. It's full steam ahead for denaturalization of foreign-born Americans in 2026 and beyond. www.npr.org/2026/01/16/n...
As focus shifts to denaturalization, what protections do foreign-born Americans have?
The Trump administration is looking to expand efforts to strip naturalized Americans of their citizenship. An immigration attorney weighs in.

For those outside the Twin Cities, the person posting this GoFundMe is a member of Minneapolis city council (and among the many locals doing absolutely heroic resistance to ICE), so it's legit.
Please help us bring Liam Adrian Cornejo Ramos (he’s only 5 years of age and is currently in pre-K. Yesterday, he and his father were kidnapped by ICE. This will help the family with legal services to help reunite Liam and his dad with their family.

Congratulations to the judges of the 8th circuit. ICE got your message loud and clear.
This video filmed by Ben Luhmann shows the moment a federal agent sprayed chemical irritants directly into a man's face in south Minneapolis.

Three agents already had the man pinned to the ground when a fourth agent walked up and sprayed the irritants.

This is absolutely what struck me as a parent of young kids. There's so much love invested into each of these little things, and here it's just ripped away.
Liam’s mom dressed him in all those layers to keep her little boy warm and safe in this frigid weather, packed his book-bag w/ everything he’d need for a good day at school, and then our govt stole him out of their driveway. Used her little boy as bait. These people are monsters.

Justice Goodwine was a liberal gain on the state Supreme Court in 2025, they’re now looking to impeach her.

At a time of unprecedented daily scandals, this this whistleblower complaint, and the memo it reveals for the first time, breaks through for me as beyond the pale.

It's the federal government conspiring in secret to subvert the Fourth Amendment.
