Star Trek Deep Space Nine scene. And in case you never gave it a fair shake, DS9 is absolutely the real deal good shit. Ok, so here we see a fella named Damar. He's a Cardassian with a "C" not the other ones. He's got a boney ridgey facial structure because he's not human, with spiney features on his face and forehead and around his eyes. And a mega thicc neck too. He's wearing a military shell type armour outfit that also looks hard and tough. He's addressing the camera, as if he's making some kind of announcement. When they ask me what radicalized me
The family of mice singing “No cheeses for us meeces” in the opening song (“Scrooge”) of THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL (1992), a movie that I saw in the theater at age 10 and which immediately became a formative movie and deeply held family favorite, its annual viewing soon becoming a family tradition, and which has always been incredibly dear to me, even though I consider myself only an average enthusiast when it comes to the Muppets (I grew up with them and still love them with that warm childhood purity but I am not at Disney-Adult-levels of obsession or passionate opinion—but I will say that THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL is one of the best adaptations of Dickens’s story in the entire history of cinema, and no one since ’92 has come remotely close), and which I have always found incredibly moving and beautiful and tragic and redemptive, and which always makes me cry quietly during several key scenes; it is one of my strongest links to childhood memory.

Attended the New York Theatre Workshop production of Tartuffe yesterday. The entire cast was phenomenal, but I especially liked David Cross as Orgon, Bianca Del Rio as Mme Pernelle, Lisa Kron as Dorine, Francis Jue as Cleante, Ryan J. Haddad as Damis, and Ikechukwu Ufomadu in his three roles.

ELLIS Observer Staff Writer Mike Bovino has some advice for New Year's Eve partygoers -if you drink, don't drive. You could kill someone, as he did. Bovino, 37. is serving an 18-month prison sentence in the N.C. prison unit in Huntersville for killing a woman with his car last June near Blowing Rock. Bovino was drunk. "I wouldn't wish what has happened to me on anybody," a conscience-stricken Bovino said Wednesday. "Getting dead drunk just isn't worth it." The woman he killed, Jane Mitchell, 24, never knew what hit her. It was just after midnight last June 5 when Bovino started driving home from a friend's home, where he had been drinking beer since 7 p.m.. "I had two, maybe three six-packs of beer. I don't remember how many. I turned onto the highway and just drove down the wrong side," he said. "I saw the lights from another car, but I thought they were in the other lane. Then, it was over so fast." Bovino's 1978 Dodge four-wheel drive pickup hit Mitchell's Datsun sedan head-on about a mile north of Blowing Rock on U.S. 321. Mitchell, who had gone on a drive with her husband to get doughnuts, was killed instantly. Her husband was seriously injured. Bovino was thrown into the middle of the highway but received, he says, "only a few bumps and bruises." "I didn't think I was drunk, but I blew .18 (on a Breathalyzer test)," Bovino said, struggling awkwardly with his handcuffs to smoke a Marlboro cigarette. Under N.C. law, a .10 blood alcohol content reading is considered conclusive evidence of incapacitation. The N.C. Highway Patrol reports that the number of arrests for driving under the influence (DUI) is down slightly this year compared to 1980. Through Novem-ber, the patrol had arrested 44,330 persons for DUI, compared to 44,951 through November 1980.
