This has been a bone chilling December on so many levels.

Sending you all a little love and tenderness amidst all the cold, and violence and hatred.

I talk tough
as if ice runs through my veins
but your actions
this discard,
silent and sharp
have gutted me
like a blade that knows exactly
where the softness lives
and I will never understand how
you could be so cruel

I understand now
you loved me the best way you knew
you couldn’t meet me in my storms
not because you didn’t care
but because no one ever taught you how
your silence was inheritance
not intention
the hurt is real
but so is the compassion and love
I carry for you

the strongest we can be
is when we allow ourselves
to be vulnerable.

when we engage in open and authentic conversations with others. sharing our stories - the tough parts and the joys.

that is how we help each other to heal. and that is how we show real love.

I am convinced America crossed an event horizon thirteen years ago, when even the deaths of elementary school aged children at the hands of a monster weren't enough for their government to say "enough is enough". Hard not to think that Americans would rather have their guns over their children.

Rob Reiner made some great movies but he was also unafraid to speak the truth, and was one of the public voices who knew you don’t squander your platform, and only got louder about opposing evil fucks as he got older. Legend.

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

Weird to go to bed reading about the Brown shooting. Waking up to news about the Bondi Beach shooting and to be heading to bed reading that Rob Reiner and his wife were apparently stabbed to death.

I hope everyone affected finds some kind of peace.
