I honestly don’t know what’s more concerning. That the president of the United States keeps falling asleep in public or that everyone around him is too scared to wake him up.

Good for Halle Berry. Dems, take note:
P.S. - I'm no longer a registered Dem.
As I have happily/gladly Dem-Exited.
However ......
I care about all women regardless.
And Gavin Newsom is an asshole.
For his anti-homeless folks stance.
And his anti-women's health stance.

He looks like he just stepped out of strenuous wrestling match w/a steam room.
In other words, he's a massive freak.
Share this far & wide. Certainly affirms the "whack job" description.

Wow! The Supreme Court basically just said, if you want to do racial gerrymandering, have at it.

Let’s be clear, what Texas did was racial gerrymandering, plain and simple. SCOTUS just opened the floodgates.

The dripping contempt the right wing SCOTUS majority holds for district judges is truly a sight to behold every time. When they deign to give actual reasons for their shadow docket holdings, it’s “look at the absolute idiots who keep getting everything wrong!”

Trump revives unpopular Ted Cruz plan to punish states that impose AI laws
The FTC chairman would be required to issue a policy statement detailing “circumstances under which State laws that require alterations to the truthful outputs of AI models are preempted by the FTC Act’s prohibition on engaging in deceptive acts or practices affecting commerce.” When Cruz proposed a moratorium restricting state AI regulation in mid-2025, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) helped lead the fight against it. “Until Congress passes federally preemptive legislation like the Kids Online Safety Act and an online privacy framework, we can’t block states from making laws that protect their citizens,” Blackburn…

No no and no. We need this industry regulated. But GOP can only see dollar signs as usual.

Ted Cruz has been purchased and therefore has zero credibility in this realm. In fact, most politicians in the GoP and maybe over half of Democrats are bought by tech oligarchs. There needs to be regulation.
Opening a significant Senate hearing on AI policy at which Sam Altman will testify, Ted Cruz (R-Texas) calls for a hands-off approach: "To lead in AI, the United States cannot allow regulation, even the supposedly benign kind, to choke innovation."

Our government is bought completely by the billionaires of technology. Until we get their grubby fingers off our government they seem to have a totally open road. AI absolutely NEEDS regulation or we will all become jobless and homeless.
I write a lot about AI and in AI policy circles I kept hearing one thing -- China is the country talking loudest about wanting to regulate the technology at a global level.

Here's my explainer on what that could look like

Having placed artificial intelligence at the centre of its own economic strategy, China is driving efforts to create an international system to govern the technology’s use.

Data centers and AI sending electricity costs sky high and polluting/using up massive water.
Among the reasons I see AI as a bubble is the GOP's ideological hostility to rational electricity policy.

As a matter of physics, economics, and politics, you can't sustain a data center boom while going backwards on solar & wind. The Earth-killing energy sources they love are just too expensive.
