will taeheung kim, a korean american scientist and doctoral candidate with a green card, is still being detained by ICE. he's been in detention since July 21, first at SFO for over a week and then in various ICE facilities all over the country.

I know a lot of people talk about "Ken Griffey's swing", "John Olerud's swing" but for my money there is nothing more beautiful than Alejandro Kirk:

this is sort of my problem with throwing the phrase around willy nilly. there is a real legal regime around war crimes (that the us does not respect). maybe treating them like they're real and tryable offenses involves being careful with how we deploy the term. this is probably my crustiest take
