Fucking spare me. None of us, even the people that fucking voted for the creep, deserved this. This shit fucking blows and we should be pissed off about it, none of this "well America had it coming you know" nonsense. Fuck that noise.

It is wild to me that the largest company on the stock market, one with such incredible prestige and a huge PR team got dog-walked here. Why would you EVER give this ANY oxygen? Now everybody is asking whether NVIDIA is like Enron! This didn't help at all!
Or alternatively they should propose a bill that blocks power companies from passing the costs of their negligence and literally criminal maintenance practices onto customers every time they burn/blow up people
Some CA legislator should propose a bill to move wildfire mitigation costs out of electricity bills & into the general fund. It's more honest (the whole state is affected), more progressive (electricity bills are *extremely* regressive), & would, at a stroke, lower CA electric bills.

Star Trek differs from Star Wars most notably because in Trek there largely isn't a Great Conflict. The Federation has pretty much won, so exploration is the best motive, while Star Wars is defined by Light v. Dark, Empire v. Rebels/Republic. (almost like one has Trek in the name and one has Wars)

Star Trek differs from Star Wars most notably because in Trek there largely isn't a Great Conflict. The Federation has pretty much won, so exploration is the best motive, while Star Wars is defined by Light v. Dark, Empire v. Rebels/Republic. (almost like one has Trek in the name and one has Wars)
It's the assertion that this is "good action" and "more than just a Star Wars movie because Dirty Dozen/Black Hawk Down/Saving Private Ryan/whatever" that makes the praise of it seem so hollow. It is nothing like those movies and saying it is just makes clear how unfamiliar the speaker is with them.
if your view of rogue one is that it is a "well-acted and well-written action flick" then i'm just going to assume you've never seen a movie before

I think the movie sucks because it's a hacked together mess, that hacking together makes it uneven as shit and robs Scarif of almost all of the heft and impact it has because these characters feel fake and the story doesn't have any heft on its own, it's not a loaf of bread you cut the mold out of

Finally people have the bravery to say this. No movie looks more like a Frankenstein's monster assembled out of cut up parts by studio meddling, and it completely ruins the "Dirty Dozen" thing they're transparently trying to achieve. Great ending, *bad* movie.
rogue one is bad folks. i have believed this since i saw it in theaters and no subsequent rewatch has changed my mind. basically a chop job until the final sequence, which is good (for star wars)

It's unfortunate it doesn't rain in LA a bit more often, because the city doesn't look much more beautiful than after the rain cleans the air and the mountains and downtown can be seen crystal clear anywhere in the basin.
