There are 2,585 "mainline stations" in the UK.

One "airport-style security" checkpoint takes maybe 4 people to staff at any one time, so probably at least 12 over the period a station is open, every day, plus another 6 or 8 to cover 7-day operation...

Sheffield station doesn't even have ticket barriers because there's a public right of way through the station and no one was (so far) prepared to pay for a new footbridge. (There are redevelopment plans in the air; it'll happen one day, I expect.)

The funniest thing about this example: the copied assumption that in 1425 “everyone just knew the earth was flat”, as if before Copernicus and Galilei there was nothing but flat earth theory.

An LLM will just regurgitate this worldview-in-meme, though. Because it appears more often.

and the corrollary -- just because something is written down doesn't mean it's correct...even if it's popularly believed to be correct! Like 600 years ago when everyone just knew Earth was flat and the sun and planets revolve around it.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Zelfs als je een heel team op een stembureau krijgt dat vooraf dit zou weten op te zetten, dan is er daarna een controle van een gemeentelijk stembureau, waar mensen nog eens een volle 24+ uur geven om alle vraagtekens uit te zoeken. Het KAN NIET en tuft in het gezicht van Hardwerkende Nederlanders

The guy who tore down half the White House and keeps plastering tacky gold shit everywhere is suddenly concerned with the building’s aesthetic traditions.

Trump: I renovated the Lincoln Bathroom in the White House. It was renovated in the 1940s in an art deco green tile style, which was totally inappropriate for the Lincoln Era. I did it in black and white polished Statuary marble. This was very appropriate for the time of Abraham Lincoln and, in fact, could be the marble that was originally there!
