Today we won.

A U.S. District Court ruled that the administration violated federal law when it secretly convened a group of climate contrarians to produce a thoroughly debunked report to overturn the Endangerment Finding.

The science still matters. We won't stop.

Pragmatism's Evolution: Organism and Environment in American Philosophy url: scholarlypublishingcollective.org/uip/ajtp/art...

Fun to find a book review that I never added to my CV! One of the great parts of academic life is the opportunity to review an inspiring author like Trevor Pearce.
Pragmatism's Evolution: Organism and Environment in American Philosophy
In Pragmatism's Evolution, Trevor Pearce details the impacts of evolutionary theory on the American pragmatist tradition. He follows the strategy of the “conversational model” (pursued by Sarah Hutton...

Nuclear defense is why we built a base on Greenland in 1951. We had this idea 75 years ago. The base has been there since then. You don’t have to invade a country where you already have everything. Invasion just destroys what you have and much else besides.

You can judge a person by the size of their moral circle. Trump, for instance, has the smallest possible moral circle, containing only him. Be the opposite: expand your circle. Include, for example, animals currently raised for food. We shut them out of our consciences. It's time to bring them in.

Listening to Natalie Merchant singing “Which side are you on boys?” I’m thinking a new organizing song might be “Which Earth are you on boys?” And I want 10,000 Peace maniacs to join with and hit every place of violence to make a wedge big enough to give a soldier a space to drop their weapon.

One of the difficult things about the conditions we find ourselves facing now is that they were incredibly predictable… and predicted.
Perpetual reminder: extreme rainfall events increase due to #globalheating. Weather station data show what has been predicted for over 30 years by climate scientists. These extremes are now far outside the historical climate.

Important and true. Most people do not want to trash out our home.
A huge 89% majority of global people [56% even in the United States] want stronger action to fight the #ClimateCrisis, but mistakenly believe they’re in a minority.

People want action. Smart cities are taking action. Nations should support city action.

Can anyone tell me why the phrase “aligning with the President’s political priorities” has legal standing for actions the current administration is undertaking? Isn’t the President’s power to faithfully execute the laws? The phrase sounds to me like an invention; akin to tweeting policy.
