Reality is an illusion, the universe is a hologram, buy gold, bye!

Populism is a cancer eating at the heart of our society. Any action we have to take to stamp it out - however regrettable - is justified.

and when it's over it will be our job to seek justice, not whine that this country is an irretrievably evil entity and so what's the point if we can't have a revolution.

Honestly we could probably save society by banning three-cue readers from owning any device that can access the internet
Y'all need to actually read what you're complaining about. "Ideals" is a key word in this sentence.

if the civil rights movement was the second (or third) American Revolution we are living through its counterrevolution
so much of our present misery is just a giant, prolonged backlash to integration

The issue with a lot of the online left is they hate America more than wanting to help people. They see Liberals as the enemy because they legit think we're on evil's side by making things better so people can tolerate capitalism. They think we're psy-ops meants to stop rapture/revolution

I'm starting to realize the people who vote against their own self-interests and non-voters are that way because actually being involved and engaged in civic responsibility as an informed part of the electorate is hard.

People would rather have a king than actually do the work.
This type of thing where voters think their vote is just a nice little I'm mad button they can press instead of an actual serious responsibility they have infuriates me
Just saw a lady quoted in a local small town paper say she signed the separatist petition even though she doesn’t want to separate but wants to “send a message” and I’m just beside myself

Like this isn’t a fucking joke lady

The depressing truth about New Deal Liberalism is that it died because the (white) workers, out of spite for multiracial democracy, sold their soul to the people who sold out to Goldwater.

Anyways that’s why I’m not class reductionist. The workers should get liberalism whether they want it or not.

You may recall that in January of 2025, artist Ann Telnaes announced that she had quit The Washington Post after editors killed a cartoon that depicted owner Jeff Bezos, among others, genuflecting to Trump.

This cartoon feels even more relevant this week.

Anarchists bombed businesses and anti-immigration politicians, assassinated royals, prime ministers and presidents, all the things today's would-be revolutionaries assure us is the only way to change things. And yet the political outcome of all that violence amounted to precisely jack and shit.
The obvious counterexample is the political violence waged by anarchists in the late 19th/early 20th century across Europe and the US. Arguably the most successful campaign of assassinations in history, hardly remembered at all today because it achieved precisely zero of its political goals.

"Women are treated as inherently bourgeois" so succinctly and deftly sums up the resentful gender politics at the heart of the reactionary left that I'm shocked I havent seen this expressed before
"Girlboss" as an epithet was a load-bearing piece of the new societal consensus that women are inherently bourgeois and don't deserve power or status, and it needs reclamation stat before we truly return to monke on gender issues
We need to rehabilitate the "girlboss" as a concept, seeing how it took approximately 2.5 seconds for us to go from deciding they were cringe to a rapeboss taking over the world.

“Dems are basically Reagan. Muh rainbow capitalism…”

Buddy, Reagan let AIDS rip on purpose because he wanted to make it so there were no rainbow people to capitalism to.
He absolutely could not. That is very not true. That is, in fact, a big fat lie. People who say this shit are not NECESSARILY lying but good lord were they probably not alive in 1980. For heaven's sake.

Why did the white working class abandon the Democratic Party by 1968? Did something major happen in between 1964 and 1968?
One thing is certain, that the Democratic Party has spent the better part of 40 years abandoning the working class in favor of Wall Street.

A good start would be shifting the Overton window to the left by focusing their efforts trying to actually appeal to progressives vs moderate conservatives.

The fucked up part is that when presented with the hypothesis that there are 18 different psyops trying to undermine their belief in American society and democracy, a good chunk of them would think that's actually good
The American people as a whole are in a weird place where they're simultaneously hyper-cynical and totally dismissive of the notion there are like 18 different psyops going on to undermine their belief in the concept of society.
Jesus Christ, at a certain point Gen Z has *got* to give up on this weird combination of antipathy and malaise that seems to be the only way so many of them are capable of engaging with politics.
