Just published: My new op-ed responding to a prominent columnist (whom I actually really like) for admonishing clergy not to push Rep. Rosa DeLauro on abolishing ICE.

“It will take far more than warrants and body cameras to build that beloved community and reveal the Kingdom of God on earth.”
Opinion: A priest has a message about ICE for MAGA and Democrats
The Rev. Nathan Empsall of New Haven loves Colin McEnroe's radio show, but takes issue with his column about Rosa DeLauro discussing ICE with clergy.

My latest Substack, recounting this month's heated clergy roundtable with Rep. Rosa DeLauro over abolishing ICE: nathanempsall.substack.com/p/clergy-tel...

While not every faith leader in the room wanted full abolishment, I believe all of us feel the moral need for more than Dems are offering.

Sometimes you wonder. Bloomberg this morning saying that you can't both believe that AI is a big deal and that we're in a bubble. But you absolutely can! That's exactly the story of the tech bubble of the 90s, major economic impact but not big profits. Sigh.

I always loved Robert Duvall's acting. One of my favorite roles that doesn't get cited quite as much was the villain Ned Pepper in the original True Grit. A toast to living for 95 years; RIP to a real one.

CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

This is the second account - the first being in Chicago - of DHS agents mass detaining people and then *sorting them by race*.
More than 400 people, including hundreds of citizens, were “sorted” at gun point into racial and ethnic groups by 200 ICE agents who fired flash-bang grenades into cars with people inside, pointed guns at children & demanded their zip tied parents not comfort them. apple.news/Ausdx6kWtT0e...

Police in Bloomington, MN just announced that one of the guys they arrested in an underage sex trafficking sting was a **background checker for ICE agents.**

He had a high security clearance in the Trump administration... and he was caught trying to abuse children. Sickening.

I don't usually care about post game hoopla, but the way the Seahawks keep crediting each other is phenomenal. No egos, just community and interdependence and teamwork and love. This is wholesome and great. May we all be like that. You love to have this and Bad Bunny showcasing the best of America.

Wow, what an afternoon. I knew we'd be firm, but I didn't expect things to get that heated.

I like Rosa, but she has been coming up short right when we need her most. Not every faith leader at today's meeting wanted to abolish ICE, but I think all seemed to want more than what she is proposing.
“I would rather you vote for what is morally correct,” Davidson said.

“Don’t talk to me about my own morality,” DeLauro shot back.

“Don’t tell your constituents what they can and can’t talk to you about,” replied Rev. Nathan Empsall. “What you are voting for is not moral.”

Bovino's offense wasn't the brutal tactics that have gone on in city after city for months. It was that he made Trump look bad this weekend. Trump's narcissism & ego are even bigger than his tyranny & fascism.

So the question is: How do we convince Trump that Stephen Miller makes him look bad, too?
