@fieldtripsketch.bsky.social I'm way too obsessed Field Trip Sketch Comedy right now, I wait excitedly for each new episode the way I used to wait for my favourite tv show every week when I was a kid 💕

somehow, I've read 125 books this year! it seems that the secret is to start anything that interests me, but DNF with impunity — out of the 181 books I started, I gave up on 56 of them, leaving me with 125 finished and a ~70% completion rate. which would have appalled the Rita of 10 years ago ++

I’m at a dying mall getting some steps in as the indoor track in Evanston isn’t open. There was a lonely Santa in the middle with zero people waiting.

I have never had a photo with Santa because we couldn’t afford it as a kid, and my kid was terrified of him.

I bought a scarf and fixed it

wow, The Legend of Korra graphic novels really gloriously commit to Korrasami 💕 it's canonical; there's thoughtful worldbuilding that queers the existing universe/characters; why have I not read these before now

just saw an elderly lady at my physiotherapist's office with purple streaks in her white hair! 🎉🌈💫 she must have been in her 70s or even 80s. made my day

reading a book about the history of witchcraft, hating it, & realizing: I didn't actually want a book tracing the development of witchcraft in various cultures, I wanted a book that teaches me how to be a witch! this is a problem I seem to run into every time I read a book about paganism/occultism

remember how we all learned the "proper" way of washing your hands during lockdown? is everyone else still doing it properly? I regret to say that I've completely forgotten how, and returned to my old, haphazard ways

in a podcast interview Leigh Bardugo says, "romantasy isn't a genre, it's a publishing category" — which explains so much about why, despite loving (& searching out, & never finding enough) romantic fantasy for my entire reading life, every time a publisher shoves the word at me, I feel disrespected

Teaching, childcare, nursing, elder care, cooking/food, cleaning, and sanitation are the most important jobs in society and should be paid the highest salaries.

(Well I mean, if we still have to live under capitalism. I don't even really believe in money, but we'll go there another time.)
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

have you ever dreamed that you're an animal or a mythical creature?

I feel like I read about these dreams in books, but I've never actually had one. I do dream about other things people say are common ... flying, being chased, school/exam dreams (still! after all this time! WHY)

random thing that delights me: the many accounts on bluesky where middle-aged people post pics of their dog + all of the tweets are from the pov of the dog, in the dog's "words." it's not roleplaying, exactly, but also, it's not-NOT roleplaying. roleplaying supremacy!! everyone roleplays, in the end

I torrent all of my tv and refuse to subscribe to any streaming services because barely any of the money goes to the artists. instead, I take the $$$ equivalent of 3-4 streaming subscription costs every month and spend it on indie creators through a combo of Bandcamp, itch.io, and Patreon
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

books for adults should learn this from middle grade fiction: all books ought to have illustrations. people are delighted by illustrations

I am very into Wallace & Gromit lately, & have also been watching the old Shaun the Sheep morning cartoon for kids. claymation is amazing! I want to shrink myself down and live inside a claymation world. it's too bad that I was put off of it for years and years due to extremely silly reasons ++
