The killing of a Minneapolis man — captured on videos — deepened a growing rift between state and federal officials, who offered starkly different accounts.

Since July, I've tracked at least 2,300 cases in which federal judges have ruled ICE has illegally detained people without bond or due process.

This is one that stands out:

I'm not sure Democrats in D.C. are aware that their base's rage against ICE has reached a level of blinding white-hot intensity.

They're worried about "looking weak" for voting "against law enforcement" when they should be worried a mob of housewives is going to come beat them to death if they do.

Where are the resignations from ICE and CBP??? I guarantee you there are at least *some* who know this is wrong but arectaking the path of least resistance (“following orders”). They need to step down and speak up

Drop the names of any Canadian companies you’ve seen working with ICE in the comments.

I’m aware of Gardaworld, Roshel, Hootsuite.

Would love to gather any and all other names.

With proper training in motel management, Norman Bates would have not have made the mistakes he made. The hospitality industry needs to be reformed, not abolished.

@booker.senate.gov @kim.senate.gov Go on record refusing to find DHS until they get themselves under control. And go have a talk with Sen. Collins, because this shit is coming home to her constituents and she better fucking do something.

You want to help? Call your reps right now and demand a local independent investigation of the shooting. Now.

@kenwhite.bsky.social, could members of the administration, FBI and so on be considered accessories after the fact in the murder of Renee Good?

I'm not one for false optimism. But what I witnessed today in Minneapolis was tremendous, both in scale and exuberance. It was a stunning answer to the federal assault on Minnesota, a show of solidarity that gives us something to hold on to during times that are unforgiving.
“Everybody Showed Up”: Stunning Crowds at Minnesota Day of Strike and Shutdown Against ICE
Extreme cold didn't stop the shutdown on Friday as some 100 faith leaders were arrested, residents stayed home from work, and an estimated 50,000 or more marched through downtown Minneapolis.

I mean this sincerely, I like that they set up all the Trump administration's lawlessness in MPLS -- arresting toddlers, claiming they can enter homes, using pepper spray sadistically, etc. -- and then they close out the front page with Smith challenging Trump's lawlessness. Well done.

Congress passed the Taft-Hartley Act in 1947 (over Truman's veto) to make general strikes so incredibly difficult to organize that there hasn't been one since.

That there is a general strike happening in a major US city on such short notice is nothing short of a miracle.
National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.
