It is based on a lie, and they know they're lying because exculpatory evidence that contradicts the indictment had already been presented to a grand jury in another jurisdiction. For those not fluent in Catholic: refusing the Monstrance is not denying prisoners the Eucharist, it is refusing Christ himself, since Christ is present in the Monstrance.

If Portland’s blow up animals are the right language for Portland, this is the right language for Chicago.

Too bad no journalist will ask a Catholic official—like say, the Vice President—to comment on ICE refusing to allow a priest to administer the sacraments. That sounds pretty anti-Catholic to me.
