It's going to be spectacular when Lindsey Halligan is disbarred and mark my words, it's gonna happen.

As with Comey, the charges against Letitia James have no signature other than Trump’s handpicked personal attorney Lindsey Halligan.

No line prosecutor signed this document.

This is nothing more than a continuation of the president’s desperate weaponization of our justice system.

I am not fearful — I am fearless.

We will fight these baseless charges aggressively, and my office will continue to fiercely protect New Yorkers and their rights..

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

For what it's worth, the Nobel Peace Prize was decided weeks ago. Trump and his team know that. They know he's not going to get it. But announcing this deal right before the new laureate will be revealed allows him to play a victim and pretend it's rigged.

It is pretty galling that the Supreme Court spent four years telling Biden "you can't do that without Congress" then allowed Trump to seize a once-unthinkable amount of power from Congress within nine months and concentrate law-making authority almost entirely in the executive branch.

This is why I think the next Democratic president needs to use the EXACT tools that SCOTUS has handed Trump. Don't leave room for any distinctions.

Impound funds for deportation. Give ICE the USAID treatment. Refuse to collect government-backed debt. Purge MAGA loyalists from the executive branch.

I think also, for anyone who wants a life after Trump, your choices are either go all in, hope for a pardon if things go south, and assume the right wing infrastructure will hire you after. If you want a career in a legitimate institution or field that doesn't help you much, even w/a pardon

I’ll say it again:
I believe the reason Bondi, Miller, Patel etc etc keep acting so defiant is because they’ve all been been told The Felon will blanket pardon everyone who worked for or carried out orders from his administration.

The DOJ minions haven’t been given such assurances.

Crucial from former prosecutor @kristyparker.bsky.social: Trump might have immunity, but those who commit corrupt or illegal orders for him do not. That's why DOJ insiders are leaking word that cases against Comey and Letitia James are collapsing.

All on the pod:

No one signs up for the National Guard thinking, “One day, I’ll invade Oregon.”

Yeah man, NEVER order the coffee or tea. Our neighbor was a Flight Attendant and she warned us off decades ago. She also taught us to roll our clothes when we pack to save space.

In 2020 DHS had no proof #Antifa existed at all, yet were still directed to claim Antifa was behind Portland's protests, illegally search phones & create dossiers on journos & protestors.

Antifa in America is a construct.

In Trump's 1st term they invented this bogeyman to direct anger at the Left. Now they want to reap the crops they planted all those years ago.

ngl we can try to rationalize as much backsliding as we want but “game cancelled because black protagonist killing white terrorists during reconstruction deemed too political” is pretty bad as far as I consider things re: mainstream popular culture

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke
