I spent the last year writing a book about the ridiculous demands of what it means to be masculine. But a guy who takes care of people who served our country, asks a woman “are you ok?” When she is in distress and looks out for his vulnerable neighbors seems like a pretty good role model for a man.

“.. He cared about people deeply ..,” said Michael Pretti, Alex’s father. “He thought it was terrible, you know, kidnapping children, just grabbing people off the street. He cared about those people, and he knew it was wrong ..”

I would be very surprised if a full accounting in the future didn't reveal more than one mass grave at the detention centers. If they're behaving this way in public, what's happening out of sight must be many times more brutal.
Imagine what’s happening in the camps.
Imagine how much they’d be lying about what happened without all the videos showing it from multiple angles.

Another man fondly remembered and missed by his community, taken by the state. I remember all the stories of him paying off lunch debt for students and how much it meant to them.
I remember how well that worked for Philando Castile—in Minneapolis. www.cbs17.com/news/nationa...

I have very young boys and I can’t imagine getting through this early childhood period worried about SIDS and sickness, then to navigate the next hurdles or toxic expectations/peer pressures and then for them to finally make it to adulthood like this as thoughtful, considerate (1/2)
Alex Pretti "used to tell people off when they made sexist comments to female physicians. He bought me coffee when I had a really bad day as an intern...I laughed alongside him daily. He made a point to teach medical residents without judgement, but with a smile on his face and a joke."

Videos verified by The New York Times show Alex Jeffrey Pretti, the man federal agents shot and killed in Minneapolis on Saturday, was holding a phone, not a gun, when the agents took him to the ground and shot him. In total, at least 10 shots appear to have been fired within five seconds.
Videos Show Moments in Which Agents Killed a Man in Minneapolis
Federal authorities said the slain man, Alex Pretti, had approached agents with a gun. But videos show Mr. Pretti was holding his phone, not a weapon, when they pulled him to the ground.

Like me, Alex Pretti was a millennial from northeast Wisconsin. Played football & track in high school. Boy Scout. Outdoorsy. Wanted to help people.Today, DHS murdered him for defending our neighbors from ethnic cleansing. May we all be as brave as him in fighting fascism. apnews.com/article/immi...

I know the idea of “better” policing is as old a demand as civil rights movements in this country, the impulse to call for it at this moment is so terribly cruel that it can only be understood as aligned with the terrorists.

Per his colleagues: The victim’s name was apparently Alex Pretti and he was an ICU nurse caring for severely injured veterans at the VA Hospital. He was acting as an observer, filming the raid. Any suggestion that he was there with violence on his mind is horrific gaslighting.

In patients with melanoma who had surgical removal of tumor, receiving a customized mRNA cancer vaccine increased protection against recurrence by 44% at 2 years when compared to standard therapy.

At 5 years, it appears that protection slightly increases to 49%.

The very serious goal is to segregate the sector. It's challenging to me that people who pushed for these kinds of things didn't see that this is where the administration was going. Guess I should've held a special session at ASSA.
2/2 Because merit - as assessed in US ed - is racialized any institution that that enrolls student students from more than one racial or ethnic group will likely show differences in scores by race (and gender). The only near-term way to eliminate the gaps would be to segregate the sector.

If you live in the Cities, an easy way to help immigrant families in hiding is: laundry! Laundromats are ICE magnets, so people without washers need help.

The People’s Laundry will drop off laundry to your door to wash and dry and pick up a few days later:
