ICE using the same ruse that Ted Bundy used to kidnap people should tell you something.
CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

It's a good point, but I think this is even more annoying. It's not just the political elite; our establishment is exactly the same as society, desperately clinging to the good old days. And these are quite recent.

if AOC is too right-wing for you to support, you do not believe in electoral politics and should just be honest about that

This is the last gasp of an argument that is lost. A critical mass of people now see that poll-following is just status quo politics.

I have been on about this for about five years now, and I feel very gratified that pressure has now built to change it.

Let’s go. Fight and win.

also the beatles and the rolling stones would absolutely not exist without the genius of lots of African-American people whose culture Rubio is insisting does not exist or matter. 1
Reading Marco Rubio’s speech about how “western civilization” is about embracing God, rejecting the foolish ideal of cosmopolitanism, and celebrating the genius of bands like The Beatles who were founded by the guy who wrote that song about a world with no countries or the concept of heaven & hell.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio giving a speech that is basically an extended version of the ethnonationalist Proud Boys oath: “I'm a proud Western chauvinist, I refuse to apologize for creating the modern world.”
The Rubio speech really is appalling, and if you haven’t read it yet, you should.

I've read my grandfather's diaries, written in the 1960's, and I can assure you that his generation of conservatives did not see the Beatles as part of western civilization. The phrase "jungle rhythm" appeared several times.

Just gonna say there are plenty of insurgent, anti-establishment candidates WITHOUT Nazi tattoos that the New Republic could have featured instead of Platner.

You could ABSOLUTELY make the point that Ds are mad at the centrist leaders of the party WITHOUT helping rehabilitate this particular guy.

“The imminent return of trains to northern Ontario and the Gaspé Peninsula is great news. But we need to make sure it’s only the beginning of a long-lasting national passenger rail revival.”

@taras-grescoe.com makes the case for Canada’s trains.
Opinion: Canada’s passenger rail lines are getting revived after decades of vanishing service
Across North America, there is a grassroots clamouring for the return of railway lines that once provided a reliable and affordable alternative to cars and planes

Multiply that by dozens of marginalized communities and you see why Cuomo got crushed.

"Centrists" are depending on the money of billionaires and the lukewarm support of a bunch of "okay i guess" voters.

Candidates who defend EVERYBODY get PASSIONATE, DEDICATED volunteers who win elections.

One example, on an anecdotal basis: you know who I see disproportionately devoting HUNDREDS of hours to practical organizing with local groups to fight fascism?

Parents & relatives of trans kids.

Candidates like Newsom will NEVER get that kind of passionate, priceless work from them.

Masses of regular people and habitual non-voters don't trust "centrist" Democrats because they see them siding with billionaires and bigots all the time.

If you're a marginal voter who's not a bigot, why would you get excited about fighting for Newsom when he does podcasts with MAGA freaks?

Worth noting: literally any US born politician could get some of that Mamdani glow by siding with people over billionaires every single time.

Just love your neighbors more than money and fight for them relentlessly!

(And have years of coalition building and great communication skills, etc.)
If Mamdani was native born he would be the 2028 front runner right now, practicality be damned

Government is nothing more or less than people serving people. It's so refreshing to see a politician who gets that - and embraces it with joy.

A reminder that turning the military MAGA is a core priority for Trump 2. This is why he appointed Charlie Kirk and Bannon’s Daughter to the boards of the military academies.

Not having the officers is why Jan 6 didn’t work the first time.

Municipal work is the work of making people’s days better in ways big and small.
