It angers me when I see this ecclesiastical abuse in the modern LDS church - particularly when directed toward my believing family who are being set up to question what they are doing wrong when I don't come back.
Bednar’s manipulative “best thing a parent can do if there’s a wayward child is to honor the covenants” has it’s origins in a Joseph Smith promise to 17 yo Sarah Whitney to convince her to marry him, as a plural wife, that ironically directly led to my exit from the LDS church when I learned of it.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.
The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.
