The report also rests on bad economic arguments. It assumes that all LNG projects currently under consideration get built. But currently, there’s a supply glut emerging in global LNG markets and cheap renewables are beating out fossil power at a blistering pace.

One theory I have is that competence, self-control, responsibility, and expertise have all been feminized, leaving “masculinity” with the realm of impulsivity and petulance. So the divide is not really between “femininity” and “masculinity” so much as between adulthood and childishness.
Everything else aside, the idea that this is a model for many men of *masculinity* is so wild. This? This is "manly"? This is how people think it's cool to act?

So I did a thing. I started making music during the pandemic and realized I’d better start releasing it at some point, so you can now find my first single, “Bots”, on all the major music streaming platforms under my name, Ryan McGreal. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Insulting to have to point this out, but if you have spent even 30 minutes reading US history, you realize that every decade has been dominated by racist hysteria that the "new" people won't ever fit in.

This exact prejudice would have been applied to Miller's forebears, when they fled pogroms.
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

Canada actually speeding up the construction of high speed rail?? Do my eyes deceive me??

“This will enable construction on Alto to begin in four years — as early as 2029 — instead of the original timeline of in eight years, towards the middle of the 2030s.”

Putin’s anti-western ideology is built on the premise that liberal countries are venal, cosmopolitan and decadent and their leaders are weak and gullible. The best thing the European democracies can do to disavow that is by sustaining their resolve against Russia’s lawless invasion of Ukraine.

Canada can’t decouple from this historic shit show fast enough.
This is completely disgusting. Today, the CDC updated their vaccine safety page. It now says:

“The claim "vaccines do not cause autism" is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism”.

it is almost as if accommodating and conceding to far right ideas legitimizes them and signals to voters that the far right is a legitimate choice for governance
The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

Scene: The Dems are marvelling at the happy coincidence that all this Epstein stuff has already made voters forget they caved on the shutdown. The waiter who has been clearing their plates says, “Oh, a coincidence?” and he takes off his hat and it’s Gene Parmesan but he’s played by Chuck Schumer.

This seems to be a general pattern: the shift to renewables is happening faster - and accelerating faster - than even the most optimistic models. This fuels my urgent sense that Canada needs to decouple from the US on energy policy as quickly as possible.
Good morning with good news: India meets 50% renewables & nuclear capacity target 5 years early!

As clean capacity deploys, clean electricity production surges.

Solar grew from 5 TWh in 2014 to 48 TWh in 2019 & 137 TWh in 2024.

Hydro was 157 TWh; wind 82 TWh; nuclear 55 TWh in 2024. #energysky

In Helsinki, Vision Zero has become a reality.

Cities are not natural formations that we have to accept as we find them. Cities are designed and built - and we have the power to design them better and build them better.
“Helsinki hasn’t registered a single traffic-related fatality in the past year…Citing data that shows the risk of pedestrian fatality is cut in half by reducing a car’s speed from 40 to 30km/hr, city officials imposed the lower limit in most of Helsinki’s residential areas & city center in 2021.”
Helsinki just went a full year without a single traffic death
The capital city is Finnish’ed with car-related fatalities.
