Oh fuuuck I could do such a cool thing with vampirism under this paradigm whereby you concentrate your spiritual energy in your blood through particular bodily excesses and stealing power through bites.
Had what should have been a very obvious idea for a variation on my system and setting, but I'm struggling to figure out what the big world hook is. I'm tweaking some mechanics to make cultivation a thing but how might that change the cultures politics of the setting?

I have been thinking of this as synthesis, as an intentional practice, since reading Blindsight. In part because my job involves rendering corporate's dictates legible to the userbase when they want to know why we made the UI suck when corporate is giving me partial info at best.
Neurotypicals apparently don't have to do stuff like this. They call it consilience, they have a word for when this happens because it's so rare and unexpected.

Orthogonally, this is half the fun of running TTRPGs with pre-gen characters at conventions and all the fun of knowing other GMs are running tables of your game. How players choose to interpret and play characters is gratifying and illuminating.
If your game has voice acting, then working with the voice actors is half of your writing process. It's not complete until you've heard it interpreted and reimagined by a voice actor. And they always reimagine it in ways that elevate the writing, in ways you never would have imagined yourself.
