TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

The elimination of USAID is a moral atrocity and all involved made a choice to enable, and then lie about, ending the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
MAE SOT, Thailand (AP) - Mohammed Taher clutched the lifeless body of his 2-year-old son and wept. Ever since his family's food rations stopped arriving at their internment camp in Myanmar in April, the father had watched helplessly as his once-vibrant baby boy weakened, suffering from diarrhea and begging for food.
On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher's little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: "No one has died" because of his government's decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: "No children are dying on my watch."
That, Taher says, "is a lie."

I honestly can’t bring myself to read this but I do think it’s very important for people in the US to remember that this is happening right now because of our government.

Prof. Jacob Bor, commented, “if the US simply performed at the average of our peers, one out of every two US deaths under 65 years is likely avoidable. Our failure to address this is a national scandal.”

Because the US death rate has exceeded that of 21 other high income countries for over four decades, an estimated 14.7 million US lives have been lost since1980.

I visited the apartment building ICE raided on Tuesday today. Story to come, but you can walk right in. Half of the apartments have no doors on them. Children's stuff abandoned in some flats. *Citizen* residents told me they were arrested and held for hours in zipties. This is America

A lot of people think that every international student admitted means one fewer spot for domestic students, when the opposite is more likely true - the tuition revenue international students bring allows public universities to provide substantial discounts to domestic students, improving access.

Now kids are graduating with 12+ AP classes. They think they need this to get into college. And it is part of tracking (bc you can’t take them until you’ve met the pre-reqs, which are tied to tracking). But there are also huge differences (even within our county) in how many APs a school can offer.
sarahkbowen.bsky.social
I wonder how the obsession with AP classes (which IMO is totally out of control and is so far beyond what it was in the 1990s) exacerbates — or doesn’t— the tracking and within-school inequality issue.

My children and 14 and 12 and they are definitely getting a better education than I did — they are at a good but huge and not particularly well-funded county school system in the South. I went to school in a small town that everyone moved to for the “good” schools.

I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today, where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital. (🎥: Elias Eliahu)

The federal government is canceling the leading national survey of household food insecurity and hunger in the United States, @wsj.com reported today. The Dec 2025 survey will be canceled, while the Oct 2025 report based on Dec 2024 data will be released as usual. (1/4)

I shouldn’t be, but I’m shocked by this. We’ve been measuring food insecurity for 30 years. We have the most comprehensive data in the world. And they’re just cancelling it… so we can’t see that food insecurity continues to rise amidst all the cuts to food assistance. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/20/u...

NIH has already lost almost 20% of its staff. Just as it looks like starting to catch up—more staff cuts. And to be clear, they’ve caught up on spending but are funding far fewer proposals—in part because they’re budgeting grants differently www.statnews.com/2025/09/12/n...
