Welcome, new folk!

Things I post:
- stuff about my ongoing queer Gothic gaslamp fantasy serial, Argentum in Aqua ( saranadosfiction.com/2023/12/11/a... )
- random musings about writing, larp, video games, disability, being transmasc, or all of the above
- occasionally, unfortunately, UK politics
Argentum in Aqua: An Introduction
ARGENTUM IN AQUA (Blood on the Snow, Silver in the Ashes, Fire in the Sky) All student magician Jonathan Fest wants is to keep his head down and finish out his first year of university without fail…

While providing tech support for my FIL:

FIL: What's that screen?

ME: The terminal. You should never use it.

FIL: Never?

ME: So you know how I'm allowed to watch you open the electrical panel and swap out breakers, but I'm not allowed to ever open up it myself?

FIL: Ah! I understand, thank you.

To be fair to Sabbat, he'd actually be somewhat upset that Archer thought his response to being told 'I love you' might be violence.

To be fair to *Archer*, Sabbat's more than a little unpredictable violence-wise, and did punch Archer in the face by way of saying hello less than five minutes ago.

Daily bunny no.3104 does not have a map
An intrepid bunny creeps through a labyrinth or dungeon, arranged in a grid like an old videogame. There is a snake and a skull in the bunny's path, as well as a spike pit. The bunny has a small sword.

I feel like the title of my book - Theology in the Early British and Irish Gothic - isn't very sexy or puts people off thinking 'well, I'm not interested in theology so... meh'.

But my books offers well researched challenges on key Gothic issues 1/

Today, The Word for World: The Maps of Ursula K. Le Guin opens at AA Gallery in London! Curated by Sarah Shin and Harriet Jennings, the exhibition presents a selection of Ursula's maps, including some that have never been exhibited before.
A photo of the entrance to The Word for World exhibition, with two banners hanging vertically down outside the doorway to a brick building with white-paned windows. A row of bicycles are parked in front. The banners are purple and white and say the name of the exhibition and Ursula K. Le Guin's name. A cord-wrapped rock rests on a vivid blue background next to a map of and program for The Word for World exhibition. A stack of copies of The Word for World book, which shows the title in vivid blue against a black cloth cover.

#WIPSnips | welcome

Fire in the Sky, and very heavily into spoiler territory here, so mind how you go.

(Also a reminder that Archer's a vampire, which means most ways of killing him don't stick and he and Sabbat are both very well aware of that)

( saranadosfiction.com/2025/09/27/f... )
*[...] gods, Sabbat, just say something, will you? Please.*

But the silence stretched out between them, thick and impenetrable as the fog, until it seemed like the whole world was holding its breath, and Archer’s own heartbeat sounded like the loudest thing in the universe.

And then Sabbat moved.

He didn’t say anything, and there was no shift in his stance to warn Archer that he was about to act – one moment he was standing still, brows furrowed as though he was trying to puzzle his way through something, and the next he was in motion, lunging forward in a single fluid motion that carried him up inside Archer’s guard before he could even consider moving to defend himself.

Archer froze, halfway anticipating the blade against his throat and finding that, oddly, he almost welcomed the idea. *It’s honest, at least. And, I have to admit, very much him.*

*You never were one for doing things by half-measures, were you?* he thought, and closed his eye in acceptance as the assassin’s fingers tightened against the back of his skull. *Get it over with, then.*

And then Sabbat’s lips were pressed hard against his, and the assassin’s other hand was cupping his jaw, and somewhere deep in the back of his mind, under all the mingled confusion and relief and joy and something a good deal more physical besides, *all he could think was of course you’d* have *to be the one to make the first move, if it was ever going to happen. You’d never allow for anything else.*

*And wasn’t as though he wasn’t just as willing. Hells, more.*

He was fairly certain Archer’d been kissing him hard enough to bruise, by the end of it. He was also fairly fucking certain he’d not mind if he wanted to do it again.

“So,” Archer said, once the others’d got far enough away that Sabbat couldn’t hear their footsteps any more. “I believe you were going to explain why you decided to punch me in the face.” He poked at his nose again, though it looked to be healing just fine from what Sabbat could tell. “I don’t doubt I’ve done something to deserve it at some point or another, I’ll admit, but you said it was about the sixdamn box, and I categorically deny having anything to do with *that.*”

“Aye, I know. You ain’t that good a liar.”

“Then enlighten me.”

He didn’t want to. If he told Archer what he’d learned from Cass, he was as good as admitting yet another fucking weakness, and this one worse than all the rest combined. And, more, Archer’d blame himself for not knowing, and if he started thinking that Sabbat’d only said yes to him because of it, then…

*Then we deal with that when it fucking happens. And besides, would you rather tell him now or have him find out when you collapse out on a rooftop somewhere because your legs stopped fucking working again?*

Now that I've recovered from my cold and isn't sneezing my brains out, I finally managed to finish up my piece from @paulscottcanavan.com 's mentorship :D

Knew I wanted to paint a horse, so decided to draw some inspiration from the wild hunt folklore and ended up with bonus doggies.
A male rider dressed in leather armour rides across the sky. He's carrying a spear, and a half cape is flying out behind him. His horse have blue glows across its body, and they're flanked by two demonic canines with red glows across their body. Behind them is a eclipse and clouds.
