The key, which you think freed you, is of no similar use to your children. Either they are not prisoned as you were, or you still are.
Senator, you're late for your bagel-baking appointment in hell.
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

Conversely, the latter formulation ("The Bible says X.") can very effectively be refuted with "No, it doesn't. 😝"
Begging reporters to make this distinction. She did not "cite" the Bible, she *invoked* the Bible.

"Citing" is this: "According to the Genesis account, 'In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth'" (Genesis 1:1, KJV)."

Just saying "the Bible says" before your claim isn't citing.
There literally wasn't a single citation given. Even when she referred to the Bible--the ONLY text she refers to by name--she couldn't even cite which verses she quoting.

I was an English student at OU. I can fuckin guarantee that any one turning in an essay like this--Bible or no--would get a 0.

Fun fact*: 80-90% of your favorite 20th century Christmas songs were written, composed or famously performed by Jews. They were re-writes of Chanukah songs and they were all angry, tired, or sad. (Some of the sadness crossed over.) This is why everyone thinks there are no Chanukah songs.

Jeffries: SFNC!
Me: STFU. The longer you go with no ceiling, the sooner and harder the topmost take an axe to the floor. Some of them even mean well when they do it. This is a law of social reproduction.

Regarding Louis CK, whom apparently too many people don't agree should be consigned to public oblivion. It's good to be able to laugh at oneself, but it would be nice to think people would learn to spot proactively some ways things might be retroactively unfunny and shun them earlier.
And that's why his new stuff isn't funny, and that's why his new stuff makes so much of his old stuff retroactively unfunny.

I don't think this undermines Graeber's position, but some of us do resist work at least some of the time - more than just as a matter of rest. And that's ok! Marginal failure to contribute is sustainable, nothing like the social cost of ambitious exploitation for private gain.
There are a lot of misconceptions about peoples' desire to work and to contribute.

I had the advantage of hating #RogueOne the first time I saw it, partly for reasons that are unfair. I still despise most of what should be important abt it but, after Andor (and Clone Wars), it's much easier to enjoy the fun incidentals: mainly, the Temple Guardians and Saw Guerrera.
rogue one is bad folks. i have believed this since i saw it in theaters and no subsequent rewatch has changed my mind. basically a chop job until the final sequence, which is good (for star wars)

Materially, a bear claw IS a croissant and an amaretto cinnamon roll. So the outer layer should be citrus cake doughnut.
A turducken,

but it’s croissant, bear claw, cinnamon roll.

Trump: "At this point, thanks to me, the shock value's worn off, so we might as well all be honest about it. Fascism is good, actually. It just says whatever you can take away from someone was meant to be yours - what's more beautifully American than that?"
A reporter asks if Mamdani stands by calling Trump a fascist. Mamdani starts to give a delicate answer.

Trump (smiles, pats Mamdani's arm): "That's OK, you can just say yes. It's easier. I don't mind."

In very next skeet, Rothkopf makes his no a yes, so I'm going to make my yes a no. Load which "bigger" is carrying here needs better managed; items being put on opposite sides of scale are inseparable from each other. You can't say any part is bigger w/o diminishing the whole; rape is esp integral.
Just as a reminder: Trump's doing Putin's bidding on Russia, his attacks on science at HHS and with regard to the environment, his corruption, his ICE army attacking US cities, his gutting of the DoJ and attacks on the rule of law and democracy are all much, much, much bigger scandals than Epstein.

I would absolutely support abolition in favor of "criminals" stalked by Optimus robots - provided these were the present actually existing Optimus robots, without any remote operators.
Elon Musk’s proposal to have criminals stalked by Optimus robots is significantly less stupid than the position of actually existing abolitionists

This is a thoughtful thread. I do think there are 2 things in it worth challenging. The obvious one is the step @lastpositivist.bsky.social makes from achieving contempt for his opponents to "resist[ing] ameliorative measures [aimed at those opponents?] that seem too kind." The challenge...
With genuine shame, recent years in politics have given me my first taste for what it is to have moralised contempt for my opponents. Not hatred, not fear; contempt. There's some core element of the right wing coalition at the moment which seems to me best described as a revolt of the loser men...
