Went to a big sporting event last night. Have always been a loud, albeit off-tune, national anthem singer.

But last night the anthem hit different. I mumbled my way through.

The $$$ is in detention, not deportation. Deportation $$$ go overseas, detention $$$ line local pockets.
Every time they detain a US citizen, they still get paid, even though the citizen is eventually released. Every night they are held is an additional paycheck.

There is a local TV station (KATU) that has a 24-hr live feed from ICE HQ, that shows the “protests” of a handful of very calm crowd.

Friends are on a long planned trip to several national parks in Utah.
Just heard from them that it is anarchy at the campgrounds.
No Park Rangers, mounds of uncollected trash, overflowing Porta potties, reservations being ignored, people generally being un-restrained assholes.

The state I live in has had assisted suicide for decades.

90% of those who use it have hospice or palliative care.

It’s about fearing loss of autonomy and independence.

They had to climb an actual accomplishment ladder to be admitted to this room.
