A long-term nestbox initiative in Norway has seen the rare Ural Owl increase from a handful of nesting sites to 23 occupied boxes by 2022. More than 450 nestboxes were monitored, showing growing colonisation across the country's south-east forest border with Sweden. While the species remains vulnerable due to prey cycles and forest management, this targeted conservation effort offers a valuable model for raptor recovery and habitat-linked restoration.
