I finally loathe the Labor party
So Labor and the Liberals teamed up to pass legislation to give police the power to recommend cancellation of Centrelink payments of people who have not been found guilty of a crime by a court of law. It’s discriminatory financial punishment of people in poverty who are already over-policed

That @albomp.bsky.social hides behind ‘caucus solidarity’ as a pathetic excuse for refusing a free vote on issue of banning gambling advertising is a poignant illustration why political parties are on the nose.
Most Australians want a gambling advertising ban, few wanted a social media ban

Lunacy by the Labor party….
Luckily @australianlabor.bsky.social are installing a climate trigger in their environmental law reform package, oh, wait...luckily we have a 'safeguard mechanism' that genuinely prevents huge increases in GHG emissions and making climate change far worse, oh, wait...

Yancoal begins plans to extend the life of its central Queensland coal mine, which would see roughly 74 million tonnes of coal extracted over the life of the mine.

Australia Institute research shows that Australia is expanding gas and coal, with 94 new fossil fuel projects in the pipeline.

We need stronger environmental laws that stop new coal and gas projects.

FFS @albomp.bsky.social just ban gambling advertising like we did for tobacco. Sports and media organisations all survived that.

You have the support of an overwhelming number of Australians. Or is that not who you represent? 🤔

The revelation of their plan this week shocked European leaders, who are now paying almost all of the military costs of the war, as well as the Ukrainians, who were not sure whether to take this latest plan seriously until they were told to agree to it by Thanksgiving or lose all further US support.
This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.

A very dangerous man
The extent of the damage done to public health, biomedical science, and healthcare in the US in less than a year will take a generation or more to repair. This is the scale of the destruction. Let that sink in. A new president, Congress won't be enough to reverse things fully. It's that bad.
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.

Shame it's a stinking, road-hogging and ugly fossil-guzzling RAM tank. I'd rather they didn't build them here. Or anywhere.

Fancy that. All it takes is a bit of financial help to bring people out of poverty and homelessness.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.
