It delivers a result that all voters complain about because FPTP is unsuited to multiple parties, the British electorate don’t “get” it and trust in democracy is further eroded as they blame politicians rather than themselves

What’s your biggest fear or concern about the next UK General Election?

Let’s see if we can help in the replies 🙌

Amen
This is, in a nutshell, why the public are impossible to appease on immigration: no matter how cruel you are, they always want more because they don’t know anything about the status quo.

The blame for this is solidly with the media, and especially the BBC who appear to know no more than the public.
All very amusing, but especially this:

"The most popular was an “Australian-style points-based immigration system,” with a net 46 percent support. The least popular was “Britain’s current immigration policy,” with -39 percent support."

A terrific AFP fact check uses reverse image searches to expose how a White House video took scenes from Florida, Texas, South Carolina and Nebraska and lied that they showed "Chicago is in chaos."

It’s back!

My round-up of free things to do in London returns and there’s plenty happening across the city this weekend.

London has so much to offer without spending a penny.

Drop your suggestions in the comments and I might include them next week!
Quite apart from anyone’s opinions on LBR or starmer, there is no GOOD reason for reform to be this far ahead in polls

Their leader isn’t popular, they have no record apart from woeful councils & they don’t have any credible offering

So that leaves the BAD reason. We all should be upfront about it
When I said we weren't here to be disappointed in Labour but to replace them. I meant it.

There is a lot that might be wrong with the film - I haven’t seen it.

The Renters' Rights Bill is maybe the best thing that a government has done for prospective owner-occupiers in a loooong time and it is deeply funny to me that the government is sort of in denial about the fact it has this effect.
Viewing properties now, and there's so many ex-landlord properties coming onto the market. The same colour carpets, the same conversion of living rooms to bedrooms, the same weird kitchen designs. Lots of them with very obviously painted over problems.

Yeah I too was worried where I'd park my car when I was a student. Also whether I had enough wardrobe space for all the crowns, top hats, monocles etc

The UK is by no means a fiscal outlier internationally.

We are ‘middle of the pack’ on the scale of the deficit, and UK government borrowing is projected to fall by more than in other large economies.
Chart shows general government fiscal balance as a percentage of GDP in the UK and comparator countries (positive values denote a budget surplus). Title states: "In terms of borrowing, the UK is ‘middle of the pack’ among advanced economies."

OpenAI’s strategy is very clear, it’s trying to get people - especially young people - so reliant on its products intellectually & emotionally (& now sexually!) that going without them becomes unthinkable. And they need signs of that strategy working to keep the funding flowing in

If you are watching the Reform Party controlled Councils with their endless mishaps, resignations, fallouts, scandals, mismanagement and sheer comedic idiocy, but still thinking of making these clowns a national government, representing the UK on the global stage, you are literally insane.
