If Trump is right -- and the Epstein Files allegations are all a Democratic hoax -- why is DOJ redacting the files into oblivion?

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

maybe I’m being too optimistic given, well, everything

but I just don’t think this guy running an explicit white nationalist campaign is going to have anywhere near the juice his boss does

he is a repellent man with a repellent message and people are tired of it all

People are rightly disgusted by this speech, but it’s a measure of fascism’s normalization that many see this as more of the awful same rather than what I think most of us who’ve been reporting this beat hear it as: a significant calculated escalation. Full alert stuff.
JD Vance gets the biggest applause of his speech so far when he says "by the grace of God we always will be a Christian nation"

This is straight-up, unvarnished Klan language from the Vice President of the United States.

We've had a lot of racist vice presidents and this one might be in the running for top of the list.

Epstein redactions aren't believable, and they are valuable to fascists specifically because they aren't believable.

Fascists prefer lies to truth. Believing in a lie is preferable to believing a truth, if what you want is to dominate.

Believing lies dominates truth. So they believe lies.

Well, speaking of the Nebulas, I can assure you no part of this story was created using AI. In fact, it’s inspired by my utter disgust of AI-generated art. I wrote is as an F-you to this whole shoehorning of AI in art. Give it a read if any of that speaks to you. #fuckai
Nebula nominations are open. It would mean a lot if you’d consider “Through the Machine.” Published in Lightspeed and featured by Gizmodo, it’s a cautionary tale of AI in the arts, using the film industry as example. Thank you for your consideration.

You are either on Team Release Everything (except for victim info), or you are a pedo protector.

And everyone satisfied with this obvious cover up is on Team Pedo Protector.

There is no middle ground.

That is who you are.

Trademarked terms that I feel have been genericized.

Twitter - any microblogging social media site
Dungeons and Dragons - any table top roleplaying game that focuses on fantasy elements and uses a variety of dice including 20-sided dice.

Web browsers or rejected Mega Man Robot Masters names? I’m having a hard time telling the difference…
“try water fox or ice weasel” try chill penguin. install flame mammoth. you just download bubble crab. literally just use boomer kuwanger. sting chameleon has a search bar, use it to find toxic seahorse.
I asked what I should use instead of firefox and someone said “floorp” and I legitimately thought it was a bit for like five minutes. tech has gone beyond making the torment nexus real to making poob real.

There is no national security logic that would impel the US to want to do regime change in Venezuela. It's simply not that important. I'm not even sure wag the dog is the right metaphor for what's happening here. Seems like an insane misallocation of US national security assets and attention.
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

I thought of a couple C- jokes for this but the overwhelming feeling is just how sad some peoples lives are. We live in a world full of wonders and amazing experiences and this is all some people have, this is what they think life is. They have a profound emptiness.

There are a lot of tech workers who have had their jobs cut over the last two years.

They can get involved in these cooperatives and help build open source solutions to replace software that private equity has bought up.
Look, there’s a simple solution to private equity buying up and enshittifying the software that keeps us safe: a handful of municipal fire/rescue departments should team up, collaboratively build and share better software, and release it into the public domain. This is a common pattern!
