The US kidnaps, traffics and cages its own children at the absolute highest rates in the whole world by a very wide margin

And people wonder how we could be where we currently are
North America as a whole cages 35 kids for every 100k kids

The US? 49 kids per 100k overall

Latino kids? 57

Indigenous kids? 181

Black kids? 228

Here's what DHS doesn't want you to know: Working for ICE is one of the safest jobs in America — and last year was the second-safest year for the agency on record.

And the doxxing? It hasn't actually happened even once.

The masks are justified by a lie. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/ice-s-mask...
ICE's Masks Are All a Lie
Working for ICE is actually less dangerous than being an elementary school student in America.

Chicago cannot afford the Chicago Police Department. 🧵
Taxpayers should pay $29.1M to 4 men who spent a combined 71 years in prison after they were framed by a disgraced ex-CPD detective for separate murders between 1991 & 1997, city lawyers recommended.

The city spent $5.2M to fight those lawsuits.

Here are their stories, for @wttw.bsky.social:
City Lawyers Recommend Paying $16.6M Man Who Spent 13 Years in Prison After Being Framed by Disgraced Ex-Detective
Chicago taxpayers paid an additional $2 million to defend the other Chicago police officers named in Johnson's lawsuit, which was filed in 2020, according to records obtained by WTTW News through a Fr...

No, Chuck, you’re making them the fifth highest paid military in the world. You ain’t reforming shit.
Our DHS reform demands are exceedingly reasonable.

We're asking ICE to do nothing more than follow the standards that the vast majority of law enforcement agencies already follow.

Republicans, the ball is in your court. The clock is ticking.

Good. "But DHS isn't just ICE, it's also..." nope, wrong. DHS no longer serves any useful functions, the whole thing has been reassigned to repression. FEMA isn't even paying out to states. All DHS does is shooting, teargassing, facial recognition, and administrative warrants. Shut it down.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Thursday that demands made by Democrats for new restrictions on federal immigration officers are “unrealistic” and warned that the Department of Homeland Security will shut down next week if they do not work with Republicans and the White House.

I get this, but here's where I'm at:

Trump & Vance are the worst of us. America is bigger than them, and they win if we let them define us.
Team USA is the best of us. It's filled with Americans MAGA hates—first-generation + immigrants, LGBTQ+ athletes, people of color—& I'm gonna root for them.
I really really want these athletes to have a great experience, be competitive and perhaps win a gold medal, but, honestly, the thought of hearing "USA!USA!USA!" during their games kinda makes me cringe. If we were any other country the IOC would ask us to march under the olympic flag.

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

always bears repeating that this is NOT a financial decision. jeff bezos is worth over 250 billion dollars. he can afford to lose many millions and never even notice it. this is, at its core, a political and personal decision by bezos to destroy the post

the problem is that entire generation of dems and their younger disciples are all elitist pricks who think one of their main jobs is to discipline their base, NOT reflect that base's policy preferences. which is why we need to kick every last one of them out of office
I stand corrected. Four out of 5 Democrats want to abolish ICE.

Any elected Dem asking for less is outside the mainstream of their party.
Their new poll came out today. It's up to 79% support including 66% (!) strongly support.

My hottest take is the reason why Clinton Wing Dems don't retire and choose to die in office is because they know the new crop of Ds are gonna come for them for insider trading and taking payola (or worse re Epstein Files stuff). Why else would Nancy whip votes from her hospital bed to stop AOC
Incrementalists take it on the chin again. This is why they hate Mamdani. He's giving up the game that people in power HAVE POWER and don't solely exist to beg you for $5 every day. He's ruining the Democratic Party by showing voters that they have the power to do stuff instead of crouching in fear

Impeachment is the only Constitutional check Congress has against a lawless president and talking about it would be a good start to reasserting Congressional power in the future. Assuming of course Congress wants to do that
Speaking out like this is all they can do now. Impeachment is a total and complete joke, and threatening to use it is akin to threatening to hit someone with a wet noodle. Impeachment is no longer a viable tool to use against Republican politicians.
