realizing that some really important people only think China's EV advantage is low prices

I fear that with that attitude, they'll never catch up

distilling everything to "duh, it's cheap" tells me they're not listening or paying attention

If your human rights can be stripped away by the "notwithstanding clause" then they weren't rights to begin with.

The notwithstanding clause should be dropped or modified so that it cannot be used to suppress human rights.

Electeds should not be able to decide you are less of a person.

I started using @libro.fm only recently, but it is amazing. I spun up audiobookshelf on a spare computer and in an hour I had audiobooks that I OWN accessible on all my devices.

You can use their app as well, but honestly why would you?

Also, I support my local indigenous bookstore!
Win,win,win
It would be pretty cool if we all collectively pledged to support indie bookshops whenever/however we could 💕

Depending on budget & accessibility, that could look like visiting them in person, leaving a review, amplifying their social posts, giving gift cards, divesting from mega retailers, etc.

Alberta keeps saying it plans to "double" oil production by 2035. But the math here doesn't come close to mathing --- and it has nothing to do with Ottawa's policies. #cdnpoli #abpoli

Alberta’s pipeline math still doesn’t add up
The biggest obstacle standing between Alberta and its premier's repeated pledge to double oil production isn't the tanker ban, the emissions cap, or any other piece of federal legislation. It's realit...

Trump's illegal murders in the Caribbean just got worse. An internal DOJ memo on the bombings says the victims are waging war on the US, but per NYT, it extensively cites the WH's *own claims* to this effect as evidence!

It gets even darker than that. 1/

This is the thing that drives me insane. Things aren't normal; this isn't politics as usual. And when you accurately describe everything this administration is doing, it's so lawless, radical, and authoritarian that *you* sound like a partisan extremist.
seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

To repeat: I have studied a lot of cases of autocratization over the past 15 years. Wrote about them, taught about them, consulting about them.

I do not recall an opposition so apathetic, ignorant, and inept as the @democrats.org. They cling to their power, rather than fight for democracy. Shame.
