You will have to imagine my surprise, because I am not surprised. The dogshit rightwing Irish 'patriots' who fall for this psyop should cop on = it's just another anglo invasion, wake up, muppets.
From the ireland community on Reddit: With X's latest update, it's funny seeing most of the "Irish patriot" accounts all getting outed as Brits

Once again, we are way too relaxed about the fact that "shooting Irish people is good actually" is a mainstream political position on the neighbouring island.

it is almost as if accommodating and conceding to far right ideas legitimizes them and signals to voters that the far right is a legitimate choice for governance
The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

This is the "mature debate" they keep banging on about btw. What level of cruelty we should aspire to, with the claimed fear of being seen as less cruel than a country rapidly sliding towards fascism. An ivory tower scumbag
Justice and Migration Minister Jim O'Callaghan said he's committed to ensuring Ireland is 'not viewed more favourably than the UK by those seeking to claim asylum'.

His statement comes following proposed reforms to the UK's asylum practices

I've been thinking about how Britain's legacy in Ireland is a civic tradition of state cruelty and Jim O'Callaghan is that tradition writ large. #speirgorm

The Irish language is in an all-time underfunding crisis, with Gaeltacht housing ever more unaffordable and record secondary school exemptions. Rather than lowering our expectations, we need to fight for Irish and for everyone’s chance to access it m.independent.ie/opinion/naoi...
Naoise Dolan: We need to create an Ireland where everyone can become fluent in Irish
On a grassroots level, it could not be clearer: Irish people want to learn Irish. An island-wide Údarás na Gaeltachta study found last year that 74pc wish to improve their level.

As an Irish person who was alive in 2008 I can confirm that private businesses only ask sovereign governments to guarantee their financing when business is going really, really well
BREAKING: OpenAI is requesting US government support to help guarantee financing for the massive investments in AI chips and data centers it needs for expansion, per Bloomberg.

A report of senior Garda concern about Government members' rhetoric is unprecedented I think. And entirely justified. #Arson
🚨Garda warning:

"Harris's comments were supported by the Taoiseach and Paschal Donohoe, the finance minister.

However, senior gardai are understood to be concerned by the
rhetoric coming from the government on immigration because of the challenges in policing rising tensions over the issue."

Every far-right riot and protest that was tolerated, every racist dog whistle from public reps, every bit of hate and misinformation allowed to spread by social media companies, all led to this moment in Drogheda last night where someone felt emboldened enough to try to burn children alive.

This is truly awful news. What a relief nobody was badly hurt.

The Tanaiste and other politicians should really reflect on how their ‘too many migrants’ comments this week embolden the arsonists and rioters.

You know the way PE teachers and hurling coaches tell you that "when you're a bad loser, you lose twice"?

Well, Simon Harris is a bad loser and he's going to drag our national dignity down with him as he loses twice. The energy we'll waste trying to reverse the damage he's done in two days.
So we're about to enter an extremely racist era in Irish politics, all because our leader fucked up a presidential campaign to never before seen levels, and now he has to get competitively racist to save his own skin.

The Irish Times keep indulging the Collisons like they are precocious teenagers rather than near-middle aged men at the vanguard of the Silicon Valley/libertarian project who were directly involved in trying to build a secret environmentally-destructive city for billionaires.
This article is full of digs against horseshoe bats, planners & says “environmental goals have created stasis”. The @dublininquirer.com have already looked into the Collison backed Progress Ireland & identified links with US libertarian & Peter Thiel backed groups. We need independent journalism!

It's pretty upsetting how many French friends in Montréal ask if we'd voted by post only for us to say we can't 🙃
Ireland may be voting for a new president today, but Irish citizens who have moved abroad can't cast a ballot.

Writing from Canada, Cáit Caden argues that Irish people abroad should be able to vote, especially in presidential elections.

Opinion: Irish abroad should have the right to vote for their president
Irish people abroad should be able to vote, especially in presidential elections due to the significance of the role for international relations, writes Cáit Caden.
