I don't know if it's strictly speaking a good tactic politically but it's certainly satisfying and wastes less of everyone's time to just say to whinging conservatives, "No, you're full of shit and a liar" when they talk about their "concerns" based on dark invented fantasies.
This is one of those things that I think is quietly important – when these people are talking shit about cities, Portland or Minneapolis or New York or Charlotte or wherever, you have to loudly say, “no, fuck you, you’re lying, that town and its people whip ass and you’re the asshole”

This is not the point being discussed but imagine telling somebody playing D&D in like the 1980s while their mom panics about them becoming Satanists that gamers would be playing campaigns in front of paying crowds in arenas in lime 4 decades' time. It's wild to me still.
"Woke is ruining D&D". Meanwhile Dimension 20, one of the wokest real play shows around, just sold out Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl for live shows and brings armies of new players to RPGs.

An acquaintance of mine once tried to insist that making a loose fist to check your nails was feminine/gay but holding out an open hand to check them was masculine and I think I always knew that kind of shit was dumb but that incident removed all doubt.
So many men go through life like that. You can play poker because it's right-coded, you can't enjoy fruity alcoholic drinks because they're women-coded, you can't lick an ice cream cone because it's gay-coded. All day, every day, choosing and judging things based on coding for narrow norms.

One of my longer-term concerns is that even if Trumpism fails, and it seems to be doing so albeit more gradually than preferred, the American Right and its global allies will simply learn the lesson that they must develop and train more competent fascists.
