Not going to be able to protest, placard, meme or vote your way out of fascism. Urgent disruptive direct action and civil disobedience that doesn't stop until all the criminals are out of power is required. The window for the people to do something is quickly closing.
NEW: L.A. and D.C. are only the beginning, as Trump's team has been drawing up plans to unleash federal forces in other Democratic strongholds.

have reread the phrase “30-40+ inches of additional rain” several times now
Jamaica, in particular, will likely suffer catastrophic impacts from now rapidly-intensifying (but slow-moving) Hurricane #Melissa. A *Category 5* landfall now appears to be the most likely outcome, & 30-40+ inches of *additional* rain in mountains will lead to extreme flooding.

Prosecutors concluded that no rational jury would convict Leticia James on the charges brought against her, because the evidence collected by the investigation shows she is innocent. That was the conclusion of the professional prosecutors. Trump fired them all and brought in Lindsey Halligan.
Evidence appears to undercut claims against Letitia James, prosecutors found: Sources
Prosecutors who investigated NY AG Letitia James for mortgage fraud found evidence that would appear to undercut some of the allegations in her indictment, sources say.

Y’all, Spotify’s stock price sunk by 5% in 1 day. YOU did this by spreading the word to boycott them for running ICE ads.

These billionaires only speak one language—money—so let’s keep up the pressure. Tell everyone you know to cancel their Spotify subscriptions. Send them to BoycottSpotify.com.

It’s not an actual design. It’s a concept sketch and a bad one at that. It’s easier to destroy than build. Feels like the theme of this entire administration. Wanton destruction with no plan for what comes next.

I think my favorite thing about "every city reveals its inner character" era of ice protests is that people keep saying portland is weird or cute or nice or silly when one of the most common chants at the ice building is people looking up at feds on the roof and yelling "jump! jump! jump!" in unison
Portland resists with whimsical improv theater, Chicago resists by screaming at weird jagoffs that don’t belong in the neighborhood. Every city brings its own strengths to the fight
The energy we need is this suburban dad standing out in the street -- barefoot with Blackhawks pajama pants on -- screaming at the masked goons to get the fuck out of their neighborhood.

The president got his feelings hurt, so we're doing 10% more tariffs on Canada. Joke of an administration.

File under: A.I & anti-LGBTQ+ bias

A friend of mine wanted to take her kids to a Pride parade today so she Googled to find out where the family-oriented activities would be and the Google A.I. reply was “it would not be appropriate to bring children to this Pride event”

That’s really f-d up

Yeah, this is what I wrestle with -- a college freshman today was only nine when Trump first ran for president. They've grown up with him as a baseline, not an aberration.
It's odd for me to realize that my first-year undergraduates are at an age where they don't really remember that there was a form of US politics prior to Donald Trump. For them, Trump is not an aberration from the normal course of political discourse, but just how US politics is done.

NYT reporting Gilded Age heir Timothy Mellon is behind the $130 million donation to pay troops.

Some background—

💰 Second largest donor to Trump's re-election (after Musk)

💰Once donated to causes backed by Gloria Steinem and Ralph Nader.

💰 Previously told @forbes.com he was not a billionaire.

ICE is blatantly letting far-right hatestreamers operate within their secure perimeter and in tandem with their operations. Prison for ICE leadership who allow this! Let their families get a taste of separation.

Everyday we must remind people that fascist gestapo agents and their enablers are committing atrocities. This is an ethnic cleansing. These are crimes against humanity. And they will be held accountable.

If you are a service member or civil servant ordered to perform an operation in spite of concerns you raised about their legality, you have lawful options to blow the whistle. They do not involve leaking to the press.

Consult with qualified counsel. You can honor your Oath without breaking the law.
Boat strikes put US service members in legal jeopardy:

"Some junior officers have asked military lawyers, known as judge advocates general or JAGs, for written sign-off before taking part in strikes .... It does not appear that such memos were furnished, said one of the people."

I’m very happy, and proud of my fellow Americans, at how many (though not enough) are reacting to ICE abuses. I’m also scared for them, because I think this escalates to more government (and government-supporter) violence, to a tipping point.
It's hard to overstate how fully engaged Chicago and the surrounding suburbs are in this ICE madness. There are neighborhood watch alerts, spontaneous crowds gathering outside schools at pick up & drop off plus madly blowing whistles and honking car horns, this city is fighting back and hard.

Sorry but the Reagan Foundation owns all trademark rights with respect to the beloved character "Ronald Wilson Reagan." You can still use the version of him known as "Steamboat Ronnie."
The post from the Reagan Foundation is just complete gibberish.

The ad did not, in fact, misrepresent Reagan's views. But the idea that anyone needs the Reagan Foundation's goddamn permission to use the publicly broadcast official remarks of a former president and/or edit them for brevity is crazy
