We have voted to force management to rule out the use of compulsory redundancies.

The result demonstrates the anger & disappointment with the lack of progress and failure of successive leaderships at the University to deliver a sustainable way forward that protects jobs and the University’s future.

It makes me cringe so hard that I turn inside out.

New game: how long can you last scrolling through LinkedIn before you want to throw your phone across the room?

Today I Iasted about 38 seconds 🙏

Glasgow Trades Council is very active thankfully. Their May Day programme every year is fantastic.

What an absolute fucking loser 😂

This is proof that conservative parents don't spend actual time with their kids (well, we know Graham doesn't). If they did, they'd know that there have been queer characters on Netflix (and Disney, Nickelodeon etc.) for decades. Like, they're only just discovering Dead End Paranormal Park.

The Kneecap prosecution collapsed because police and prosecutors did not take terrorism law seriously

Where "a technicality" hides a fundamental error

By me

At the bottom of this mess is a simple point: the police and the prosecutors were careless with terrorism law and careless about its express safeguards.

Things were left to the last minute and a consent (which may or may not have been given) - a step imposed by parliament as a crucial step - was not obtained.

And this mishap meant that the Chief Magistrate of England and Wales had no jurisdiction to hear what was on the face of it a terrorism case.

Police and the prosecutors should remember that this is terrorism law that they are dealing with.

Terrorism law should be taken seriously.

As a Sunderland fan... It's pretty funny to see how wound up Arsenal are getting. They are winding yous up and it's working 😂

Nice - Just attended my first trades council meeting this week as a delegate! 🙌
sizzleleg.bsky.social
Okay! Sorry, just a Glasgow term of endearment. Just trying to provide my perspective is all. I'll always be a fierce ally for the trans community, but you don't have to like me or my methods it's cool.
sizzleleg.bsky.social
Are you a member of a trade union, or a trade union activist? Genuinely interested!
sizzleleg.bsky.social
I'm on your side here pal, I'm not sure what there is to argue about? UNISON is full of strong trans people, many of whom I know and will be hugely disappointed. Some have no choice but to join UNISON if that's who their employer recognises? Who do you suggest I join instead?
sizzleleg.bsky.social
We can if there is a will from members. Would suggest voting for a change in general secretary is a good start ☺️
sizzleleg.bsky.social
Correct - the members did not vote on this. Only an exec committee of very few members.
sizzleleg.bsky.social
Branches and LL members can write to LL exec to express their disappointment. They can also write to the General Secretary. This would put pressure on them to rethink the process for the future, but if by the rulebook and then the rule would need to be changed by membership.

I want to make it clear that UNISON is made of 1.4 million members, who have passed motions which directly oppose Phillipson's politics

The decision on who to support was made by the Labour link Exec - a very small group of people.

This does not represent the views of UNISON's members at large

I am in Labour Link in @unison.org.uk Who made this decision? Is this what democrac looks like in our largest trade union? It demonstrates what we know - the UNISON establishment supports Starmer's wishes wherever they lead. Andrea will review Labour Link. We need change at the top andrea4gs.org.uk
sizzleleg.bsky.social
Although the choices were not exactly the most inspiring, the least my union could do was consult with its labour link members and not just it's exec.
sizzleleg.bsky.social
Labour Link members were not consulted when making this decision - a decision to endorse a transphobe, a zionist and someone who has overseen the erosion of our universties in the UK.

There is a reason why I'm supporting @andrea4gs.bsky.social in this unison election for general secretary.

I'm hearing that Labour Link members were not consulted in this decision? Is this true?

Get yersels down to the Village Hotel picket in Glasgow tomorrow, 4.30pm. big Jez will even be there. Go on. It will be class.

Was at the picket below a couple weeks ago and was amazing to see the solidarity from across the city and hear the (mostly young) workers share their stories.

The first hotel strike in 40 years looked like THIS 👇

Our union is giving full support to Village Hotels Glasgow staff fighting for a living wage and equal pay for every worker 📣

In a sector that Unite Hospitality continues to organise, we will keep backing hospitality workers

Solidarity ✊
