Seattle. Every intersection is a crosswalk.

The biggest issues my neighbors and I encounter in our building in Little Saigon are small warming fires, folks leaving refuse from our dumpsters all over, folks taking shelter in our entranceway, and human waste.

It's not a violent crime wave, it's a failure of city services.

They showed up and dominated the comprehensive plan process flooding the planners with cries to go bigger. So many showed up they didn’t have seats for everyone. The mayor and his staff ignored them and lied on the outreach to water it down. Turns out that was an unelectable strategy.
This is a great speech by @mayorofseattle.bsky.social Harrell. He identified that a huge number of new young voters showed up and made the difference. "Young people are saying they do not think their voices are being heard." He encouraged his supporters to embrace new ideas from new leaders.

Holy shit we just elected a renter who actually believes serious people can live full, meaningful lives without car (and wants to make that an easier choice for more of us to make).
Congratulations @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social !!

Wilson Wins In a Squeaker (That Should Not Have Been This Close)
Wonder if incumbent Bruce Harrell will call her "Mayor-Elect Wilson" or if he'll keep referring to his successor as "this person" and "she."

Nearly 1,100 days after safety advocates painted a guerrilla crosswalk at Harvard Ave E and E Olive Way (and SDOT washed it off), there is now a permanent crosswalk here.

We need leaders who can, even for a moment, imagine city dwellers thriving while not owning a car.
It's hard to have a rational discussion about future use of former heavy industry areas in Seattle because the issue is always "labor" or "our industrial heritage" vs. "greedy developers," regardless of whether these claims hold up. Predictions of crippling traffic, e.g., are almost always wrong.

Another great piece by Jason Li from @fixthel8.bsky.social who writes that bus lanes along Denny would benefit all users.

Will leaders at @seattledot.bsky.social listen to reason or continue to allow bus reliability along Route 8 to suffer?

With another 56,000 votes counted in the Seattle mayor's race, Katie Wilson has narrowed the gap with incumbent Bruce Harrell to just 4,300 votes, and received just under 55 percent of the vote in the latest count, with perhaps 50,000 votes remaining to be counted. That's a solid turnaround.

This is incredible. King County elections is now saying they have 45,000 ballots left to count. If Wilson gets exactly the same margin of those as she got today she'll take the lead by... 20 votes!

Has your ballot been challenged? A significant number of ballots are in danger of not being counted. Don’t let your ballot be the one that tips the election to Harrell!
